Persuasive piece: Should school be taught online or in classrooms?

Many kids love the fact that they would be learning online due to the 2019 novel coronavirus but I
would have to disagree with that. According to a survey taken by the Goodwin University, about 1 in
every 4 students claim to learn better in online classes. I personally think that teaching should be done
the traditional way in the classrooms and I have many reasons supporting my opinion, I’m quickly
going to state a few of them. While online classes have a lot of advantages, there are many
disadvantages too.
Firstly, being at home doing online schooling leads to procrastination. I am unfortunately a
procrastinator. When at home, we would think the time is longer and put off tasks for later but one
thing often tends to lead to another and we would be behind our schedule. However, in school, we
would be kept occupied by the teachers and have motivation to complete the notes.
Secondly, online learning requires internet access and not every student has that privilege. About
66.666% of students don’t have a Wi-Fi connection as of 2020.

Thirdly, online classes allow learning in distant or disadvantaged locations, online education
is easy to access and provides a convenient way to obtain course materials such as
homework, exams, schedules, test scores and more. I say this because some students may
need a little more time to understand the material that is getting taught. Another reason is
fitting school into students' schedules. Most kids/teenagers are lucky to go to school and be
carefree. On the other hand, there are some kids who have to work and help provide for their
families and can't afford to be at school all day. Well online learning can help with that in a
major way.
Last but certainly not least, online schooling lower the social communicating skills of student which
causes isolation and can lead to depression. I know my desire for school to be reopened can’t be
fulfilled at the moment so I am adhering to the COVID-19 GUIDELINES and wait until an antidote is
developed.
