Abstract
Numerous mining accidents result in the death of thousands of miners, who
mostly unknowingly inhale toxic fumes. Because of illegal mining, the
earth's surface often becomes hollow, and unskilled workers who enter those
dangerous locations risk their lives. The problem going to be addressed
extends beyond mining to many other industries (steel plants, for example),
where human life is at risk because there is a lack of knowledge regarding
the presence of various hazardous gasses. Development of a system for
monitoring air pollution using drones. Development of a smartphone
application to monitor the AQI(Air Quality Index). Concerned mining
officers/departments might get an SMS alert with dynamic AQI updates in
their area. The drone may also be automated, which means that some way
points can be set, so that it follows the specified path. It may also be used to
notify departments to get AQI updates depending on their GPS location.
Drones rather than fixed setups could be used to generate routes which are
optimized for pollution, similar to how Google Maps creates routes based on
time and distance. In addition for the department to offer assistance, a
raspberry pi has been attached to the drone to identify the presence of people
or animals there. using machine learning algorithms.

Hardware: S550 PCB based drone kit,Pixhawk (Arm Cortex m7 based flight
controller), NodeMCU, MQ135 gas sensor, Raspberry pi, USB camera, Lipo
batteries.

Software Required: Mission Planner, Things speak cloud, Tower beta mobile
application, Arduino IDE.
