correctly by direct method.

1.0 Aims/benefits of the micro project :-

 The Aim of this project is to the study about the theodolite surveying.

2.0 Course Outcomes : -

 Prepare a plans using theodolite surveying.

3.0 Proposed Methodology:-

To create a micro project on guidelines required for good presentation firstly
micro project after collecting all required materials we started our work. We
visited so many Website for collection extra information about the given micro
project. Firstly we visited on Google and started searching information after
sometime we got one pdf based on road and road components we take this pdf
and started creating our micro project. Each group member divides the work
and on specific date we collect data from each group member. From all
members we got some useful information for creating our micro project. We
collect all information and merge into one ppt to get our micro project ready.
Then we all of we referred some books and also searched on internet related to
our micro project, we used this information for creation of our micro project.
Then we started writing a report of project

We also referred some websites and books:

INTRODUCTION

The theodolite is instrument designed for measurement of horizontal angle and vertical angles upto
10" or 20" least count depending upon the instrument. It is most precise instrument in
surveying.Because of its various uses the theodolite is sometime also known as universal instrument. It
is consist of movable telescope that can rotate and pivot on the horizontal and vertical axes the
angular measurement can be used to take distance and other measurement indirectly using
trigonometry.

DEFINITION

the system of surveying in which the angles are measured with the help of a theodolite is called
theodolite surveying.

1.1 TYPES OF THEODOLITE

The theodolites may be primarily of two types :

1) Transit theodolite
2) Non-transit

 Transit theodolite : A theodolite in which the telescope can be revolve through complete
revolution about it's horizontal axis in vertical plane is known as transit theodolite.

 Non-transit :In this type of theodolite the telescope can not be revolved in the vertical plane.
 COMPONENT PART OF TRANSIT THEODOLITE SURVEYING
1. Tribrach and Trivet.
2. Footsscrews
3. Clamping screws for centering
4. Lower plate.
5. Graduated arc
6. Upper plate
7. Standards
8. Telescope

9. Horizontal axis

10.Verniers

11.Vertical circle

12.Tripod top

13.Vernier frame

14.Arm of circle clamp

15.Plate levels

16.Vernier circle clamping screws

17.Level on vernier arm.

18.Hook of plumb bob

19.Axis of bubble

20.Lower plate clamp

21.Upper plate clamp

 TEMPORARY ADJUSTMENTS

The temporary adjustment have to be carried out at every setup is the instrument before
taking observations with the theodolite.

i) Setting up the theodolite over a station

ii) Levelling up
iii) Focussing of eyepiece and
iv) Focussing of object glass to remove the parallax

i. Setting up :

ii. setting up of theodolite include :

a) Centering it over a station point, and
b) Levelling it approximately by the tripod legs only.

II. Levelling up :

Accurate leveling is done with reference to the plate level (S) by

Means of foots screws. The object levelling is to make the vertical axis truly vertical.

III. Focusing the eye piece :

the object of focusing the eye piece is to make the cross - hair on diaphragm distinct and clear. To do
this, direct this telescope towards the sky or hold a sheet of white paper on front of the object glass,
and move the eye piece circumferentially or in or out until the cross -hair are seen sharp and black.

IV. focussing of object glass :

The object of focusing the object glass is to bring it the image of the object formed by the object glass
exactly in the plane of cross -hair. If not done accurately, there will be an apparent moment of the
image relatively to the cross hairs when the observer moves his eye up and down. This effect is known
as parallax. The parallax can be removed by sharp focusing until the image appears sharp and clear.

1.2 USES OF THEODOLITE

The Theodolite is use for various purpose such as :

1. Measuring horizontal angle.
2. Measuring vertical angle.
3. Measuring deflection angle.
4. Measuring magnetic bearing of line.
5. Ranging the Line.
6. Prolonging the survey line.
7. Setting out curves.
8. Establishing grades.
9. Determination of difference in elevation.

PROCEDURE

1. Collect the required instrument as per table from the store.

2. Set up the tripod over the given station O and fix the theodolite over it.Perform Approximate
levelling by tripod stand.
3. Perform centering by using plumbing.
4. Perform accurate levelling by using foot screws.
5. Focus the eye piece and make cross hairs clear and distinct.
6. For removal of parallax, do focusing the object glass.
7. Set the horizontal circle vernier A to 00° 00' 00''and at 180° 00' 00'' accurately using upper
tangent screws. I
8. Unclamp the lower clamp and bisect A approximately, clamp lower clamp. Using lower
tangent screws bisect the object With face left precisely.
9. Unclamp upper clamp, Swing the telescope in clockwise direction and bisect the object on
forward direction . B approximately. Clamp upper clamp. Using upper tangent screws bisect B
precisely. Take reading at the vernier A and B
10. Repeat Average of face left and face right is the required horizontal and AOB.
11. Return the instrument to the survey store .

PRECAUTIONS

1. Temporary adjustment are done precisely.

2. Bisect A and B precisely.
3. Read the verniers accurately.
4. Enter the reading in the approximate columns.
