I. Lesson Objective

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:


a. discuss the elements from traditions/history of Maranao
reflected in the sarimanok design;
b. Identify the characteristics of Sarimanok design of
Mindanao; and
c. create a Sarimanok paper layering art.

II. Subject Matter


a) Topic: Sarimanok: The legendary Bird of Maranao
b) Reference: DepEd Self-Learning Module SLM Quarter 3, Module 1
Arts of Mindanao
c) Materials: PowerPoint, Bond Paper, Manila Paper , and
Television
d) Skills: Cognitive, Collaboration, Communication, Movement,
Social, and Critical Thinking Skills.
e) Values Integration: Cooperation, Self- Confidence, and
Attentiveness

III. Preocedure
a) Preliminary
 Prayer
The teacher allow student to lead the prayer.
 Review
The teacher will ask questions about the previous
topic.

b) Motivation
The students will play guess the picture.
c) Lesson Proper
 The teacher will present the objectives.
 The class will be divided into 4 groups and each group
will form in a circle.
 Each group will be given a fact sheet about the topic “
Sarimanok: The Legendary Bird of Maranao”
 Every group member must present their summary
learning through reporting, story telling, singing, role
playing or any other ways to present.
 After the group’s presentation, the teacher will asking
questions about the topic and the student will answer.

d) Application
SARIMANOK PAPER LAYERING ART
Materials:
1. Any coloring materials
2. Scissors or Cutter
3. Double adhesive tape (sponge or foam type)
4. Clear packing tape

Procedures:
1. Color all the images using any coloring materials.Use the same colors you
used on the identical areas
2. Put clear packing tape on top of the image of Sarimanok.
3. Cut out all the three images.
4. Put double adhesive tape (spongy or foam type) on Sarimanok image 3.
5. Put Sarimanok image 2 on top of the image 3.
6. Do it repeatedly for Sarimanok image 2 , and put image 1 on top of it.
7. Make sure to leave a small gap between in putting those images.
