Warm up (5 min) Greet the pupils, take the absences. Ask pupils How are you?
Brainstorming: (10 min) Begin with a short revision of the greeting phrases. Saying the words chorally and / or
individually.

BEGINNING THE LESSON


(An activity to revise the language taught in the previous module.)
Invite a pupil to come to the front of the classroom and whisper one of the action verbs in his/her ear. The
pupil then mimes the action for the rest of the class to guess. Whoever guesses correctly takes the next turn.

1 Listen and read. (Track 03 CD2)


Set the scene by asking the pupils questions about what they can see in the pictures.
e.g. Teacher: (pointing to the toy soldier in picture 1) What’s this?
Class: A toy soldier.
Teacher: (pointing to the ballerina) What’s this? Class: A ballerina.
Teacher: Where is Lilly? Class: On the bed. etc
Play the CD and ask the pupils to listen and follow the dialogue in their books.

2 Write.
Explain the activity. The pupils look at the pictures, read the dialogue silently and write the names of the toys.
Check the pupils’ answers.

Play the CD again pausing for the pupils to repeat, chorally and/or individually. Ask individual pupils to read
the dialogue out loud.

Extension Activity (optional)


1 Act out: Select a short exchange from the dialogue for the pupils to act out in pairs. Allow them some time to rehearse their exchanges.
Encourage them to come to the front and perform their exchanges. Alternatively, assign roles and have the pupils come to the front and act
out the whole dialogue.
2 Ask the pupils to take out the story cutouts.Ask them to shuffle them. Play the dialogue for the frame.Ask the pupils to show you the
corresponding cutout.

ENDING THE LESSON


(An activity to consolidate the language of the lesson.)
Put up the flashcards on the board. Ask the pupils to look at them for a few seconds and then close their
eyes. Remove one of the flashcards and ask the pupils to open their eyes and say which flashcard is missing.
