Assume Ri as 10KΩ, The value of Rf= 5.86KΩ, The Order of the filter identifies the no of poles.

An N-
Pole active low pass filter has a high frequency roll off rate of N*20dB/decade or N*6dB/octave.

Hence, in order to attenuate a frequency of 50Hz to 40 dB, we need to go for a second order low
pass Butterworth Filter.

In order to design a second order low pass Butterworth filter, 2 first order filters are to be cascaded
or 1 second order filter is to be used.

A notch filter is a band reject filter, which attenuates a particular frequency and allow the rest of
signal to pass thorough .

A low pass filter allows only low frequency signals up to a certain break point to pass through while
suppressing high frequency components.

A High pass filters allows only frequency above a certain break point F L to pass through and
attenuate lower frequency components.

A notch filters can be designed by cascading 2 Second order filter , namely one second order low
pass Butterworth filter for 50Hz lower cut off frequency and one upper cut off frequency 50Hz So as
to attenuate 50Hz noise by 40dB while allowing 20Hz drum signal to largely pass through.
