Differentiation:
I will differentiate this lesson by having other types of
materials offered for children who are not able to
string the cubes on the string. For those students, I will
have colored tiles they will have to line up on a
straight line, so they are still working on their motor
skills, but it is not as challenging. If a student cannot
draw, I will have them verbally tell me what their
picture would be using the colors they lined up.

4. There will be pipe cleaners that will be used as string
and then a tub of color cubes with multiple duplicates of
every color.
5. Each child will be required to lace at least 4 colors
onto the pipecleaner and use those 4 (or more) colors in
their picture.
6. I will monitor each child by watching exactly what
they’re doing, if they have the same colors on the pipe
cleaner as in the picture, how long it takes them to find
the color they are looking for, and if they can match the
marker color with the cube color.
7. I will have an evaluation sheet with each child’s
name, and I will fill it out with the colors they chose,
how well they were able to stay focused on the task, and
if the cube colors and marker colors matched. This sheet
will also include the scale I created to compile my
evidence.
8. Students will then tell me what their picture is of and
why they chose those colors.
