Learning Task No. 6: SOLVE THE TROLLEY PROBLEM

Since I am stuck between crucial choices or should I say no choice, I think it is

more better to pull the lever to save more lives. Though life is so important and immoral
to kill, I believe that we are sinless since the man is not the one who causes the people
to be there. To sum, it is better to pull the lever to save the life of many.

Process Questions:

1. No, because the only choice we have is to kill or to take life of those persons. We
have right to choose but we are under pressure.
2. I considered the quantity of life given in the situation. I choose to pull the lever to
save the 5 lives over life of 1 man. Though it is so ethical to take life, but I have
no choice. I can consider it right because I save more than 2 lives.
3. Yes, because my decision was based on my moral standpoint. In this situation, it
is okay to take the life of one person than to kill the 5 in opposite.
4. No, because if I will use my practical choice, where the scenario is under great
pressure, maybe the worse comes to worst because my thinking capacity is
being pressured by stress in choosing and decision making.
5. Both my understanding and from reference because we doesn’t have clear
discussion of this lesson with our teacher.

together with Rico’s mother. I will guide them to talk about doing the next step
without harming the children. After that, I will lead Rico to Frederico to take
the responsibility with Gayle as the father of the child.
B. It is intellectual because I think the safety of both parties without harming
anyone else.
C. The outcome will be, no one will be harmed and both parents will agree on
what they talked about.
3.
A. If I am Dr.Nicole, maybe I will take the offer because I cannot take that my
family suffers because the Mayor provide me a life threat. And I will work
soon for this case so that they will be punished by the law.

Additional Activities

The Court held that there is no criminal liability when one commits an offense or
act due to ignorance of facts provided that it was not due to negligence or bad faith.
Such ignorance of the fact is sufficient to negative the particular intent which under the
law, is an essential element to the crime of murder charged cancels the presumption of
intent and works for an acquittal. In the case, the defendant struck the fatal blow on the
belief that the intruder was a robber, on which his life and property was in danger. It is
clear that e acted in good faith without negligence and without any criminal intent in
exercising his right to self-defense. There can be no crime, large or small, without an
evil mind. The author of the Penal Code deemed criminal intent or malice to be an
essential element of the various crimes and misdemeanors. It is a principle that the
essence of an offense is the wrongful intent, without which it cannot exist. In other
words, punishment is the sequence of wickedness, without which it cannot be. And
neither in philosophical speculation nor in religious or moral sentiment would any people
in any age allow that a man should be deemed guilty unless his mind was so. This
doctrine confirmed by the maxim actus non facit reum nisi mens sit rea in which the act
itself does not make a man guilty unless his intention were so. Thus, the Court held that
the defendant should be acquitted.
