by his teacher because of his laziness in school, and also bullied by his classmates Suneo

Honekawa and Takeshi Goda (Gian). Nobita is the only child of Nobisuke Nobi and Tamako

Nobi, and they live in a suburbs in Tokyo.

One day, in the middle of the night, two people entered Nobita’s room from his

drawer while he is sleeping, they are Sewashi and Doraemon. They greeted Nobita and

explained that they are from the 22nd century in the future. Sewashi revealed that he is

Nobita’s great-great grandson and is living in a poor family. He explained that if Nobita

keeps in his present nature, he will have a disastrous future, he will marry Gian’s sister Jaiko,

his private company will be burned down, and left a great debt even Sewashi’s generation

cannot pay off. That’s why Sewashi traveled back to Nobita’s timeline to help him change his

future.

Doraemon, a blue colored robotic cat from the 22nd century was ordered by Sewashi to

stay with Nobita to help him overcome his life’s problems. Doraemon was angry at first, and

refuse to stay and help Nobita. But, Sewashi turned Doraemon’s nose and installed a program

forcing him to stay and help Nobita. Unless Nobita is happy and gains a better future,

Doraemon can’t go back to 22nd century.

Doraemon explained that he will help Nobita with his “magical” gadgets from the 22nd

century stored in his 4 dimensional pocket. Nobita was not conviced until Doraemon took the

“take copter” to make Nobita actually fly. With those gadgets, Nobita slowly overcame his

problems, he never arrived late to school because of “anywhere door”, his problems in

learning is overcome by “memory bread”, and Nobita can get his revenge to Gian with

“invisible cloak”, and many more.

Review/ Critics:

The movie has a good animation and a clear storyline, which makes the audiences

understand the whole story even just by watching the first 25 minutes. It also uses simplified

language, even though there are some new vocabularies, but it mostly uses simplified

language. This feature helps a lot, you can even watch it without turning the subtitles on.

Initially, I was a bit concerned with the approach of changing from the usual 2D hand-

drawn style into three-dimensional visuals but it turned out are more impressive than I was

expecting. It is exactly how the Doraemon should be if it was in 3D. It is extremely cute, rich

with expressions, and it’s done without messing with any part of its original appearance

design, movement or personality. The items that Doraemon has are very unique and amazing,

beyond our imaginations and expectations. Watching this movie really brings us to the future.

Sadly, the first 25 minutes doesn’t show any moral values, or good lessons. All that

we can see is a needy, dependent, and lazy boy named Nobita. He can’t really do anything

right, and never tried to fix the mistakes he made. He gave up easily and had zero fighting

spirits. He can’t even do anything on his own, he needs Doraemon all the time. He even

asked Doraemon to fix his mess or solve his problems.

This is actually not a good example, especially for the audiences, remembering that

this movie is intended for children. Children might have to watch it under the supervision of

parents. Without any parent supervision, I’m afraid that the children whose watching it would

make those bad habits an example.
