Action to be carried out:

 Sound abandon ship signal on the ship followed by master’s verbal orders
 Broadcast DISTRESS ALERT MESSAGE on the authority of the master
 Instruct crew members to put on life-jackets, and wear adequate warm clothing
 Instruct crew members to put on immersion suits, if carried, if water temperature is below 16 °C
 Order crew members to life-boat stations
 Prepare to launch life-boats / life-rafts
 Ensure that life-boat sea painters are attached to the ship
 Embark all crew in the life-boats/life-rafts and launch
 Ensure life—boats / life-rafts remain in safe proximity to the ship and in contact with each other

 Company / Ship emergency response plan activated?
 Company advised?
 Carry SART, EPIRB, UHF sets, pyrotechnics etc.
