DRUG ADDICTION IN THE WORLD OF ADOLESCENTS

Small eyes and dry mouth, my mind wanders from the hallucination, I travel the
world my life is perfect. I have the recipe to be happy here… the song that is
undoubtedly the anthem of many of my peers is playing, the world of drugs is so
close and so easily accessible that anyone has a place in it.
Drug addiction is such a common problem that it seems that in our society it is
already something normal and despite the fact that this problem is very common in
large cities, small towns do not escape this problem. There are many edges by
which we can address this issue, however, I will focus a little on the following: what
are the main problems that lead adolescents to the world of drug addiction?
But... what is a drug?
A drug is a substance that, upon entering the body, alters its functioning by directly
attacking the central nervous system, depressing or stimulating it in such a way
that it leads to a false state of perception of reality.
Why are drugs used?
Despite the fact that there are a large number of theories in this regard, most of
them have focused their attention on the adolescence vs. consumption binomial,
the various theories point out that age is a determining factor -although not the only
one- We know that adolescence is a critical age in the development and formation
of individuals, as well as the most vulnerable. It is at this age that we want to try
new things, break rules, and we hardly notice the catastrophic consequences that
we can obtain. In this way, despite the fact that there is no specific reason for
starting drug use, we can affirm that there are conditions that, when combined,
become risk factors, among the most common we can mention:
Curiosity to experiment, search for pleasure, need to belong, dysfunctional families
and the most popular in a large part of the people of my generation from my
perspective is the influence of the social models belonging to the so-called
narcoculture where the idea that is sold to us It is obtaining everything we want in
an easy and immediate way. This gains more strength since social networks and
technology constantly bombard us. Another important factor that we cannot rule out
has to do with family dynamics, many adolescents start using drugs in order to
avoid the problems they experience every day.
Conclusions:
Drugs break into our lives regardless of social class, age, gender or skin color, the
world of drug addiction has overflowed, invading every space in our society
claiming lives, resulting in a problem that afflicts the entire society. and that affects
all sectors. I can say that nobody is born addicted nor are we destined to become
addicted because we are young, we need spaces to occupy ourselves, we must
become aware of the excessive use we make of mobile devices and social
networks that most of the time play against Of us, I believe that drug addiction is a
social problem where the state and society must work together to reduce it, but
without a doubt we are the main agents of change in favor of our generation and
therefore of future generations.
