1. Based on Goleman study he found dramatic results that intellect was a driver of
outstanding performance. Cognitive skill such as big picture thinking and long term
were particularly important but when he calculated the ratio of technical skills, IQ and
emotional intelligence as ingredients of excellent performance, emotional intelligence
proved to be twice as important as the others for jobs at all levels in this case
including leader. That’s why accoring to Goleman Emotional Intelligence had a very
important role for a good leader not only traditional qualities such as intelligence,
toughness, determination, and vision.

2. Because Leadership is more art than science. The personal styles of leaders influence
the way they lead. Sometimes a leader needs to be more forceful authority and in
another ocasion he/she should be more sensitive when negotiating a very serious
problem.

3. Emotional Intelligence is the ability of someone to identify and manage his/her own
emotions and how well he/she understands the emotion of others. A leader has
demonstrated Emotional Intelligence when he/she is confident enough to lead the
subordinates, has sence of humor, doing self-assessment realistically, has openness to
channge, optimistic even in the face of failure, has competence in organizing, has
cross-cultural sensitivity, serves the client and customer well, and has capability in
building and leading teams.

4. Emotional Intelligence is important for leadership because by having Emotional


Intelligence leaders can recognize the problem around her/him and able to recognize
emotion as they happen in order to solve problems and handle any future
complication.
