1. The Preamble of the Constitution provides that we should establish a

Government which shall "conserve and develop our patrimony." What is the
importance of the Preamble?
• The preamble of the Constitution provides that we should establish a
Government which shall "conserve and develop our patrimony." Our
"patrimony" includes our public forests, mangroves, wildlife, and flora and
fauna which should be conserved, protected and renewed. Therefore, as a
Filipino citizen we should act according to the law, participate and be active
in conserving and developing our public forest, mangroves, wildlife, and flora
and fauna through initiatives to raise all Filipinos quality of life, for example
being a community volunteer to help clean the environment. The preamble
sets the stage for the Constitution (Archives.gov). In this sense, the
constitution preamble is an introduction that contains ideal purpose and
provide direction to the constitution.

2. Under the State Policy, the Section 11 states that "The state values the
dignity of every human person and guarantees the full respect of human
rights", as an MSUAN how will you exercise this distinct portion or provision?
• The Philippine Constitution Article II Section 11. ”The State values the
dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights.”
This is An essential element in the protection of human rights is a
widespread knowledge and understanding among people of what their rights
are and how they can be defended. (senate.gov.ph.pdf). As an MSUan I
should know my rights as a person to protect my dignity and welfare, by
having such knowledge of my own rights and performing this can help me
understand, disseminate information to other people and defend the people
through informing them. Mindanao State University is an institution who
respect the diversity of persons culture, beliefs, gender, social status etc.
which guarantee MSUan to practice this distinct portion or provision.

3. For instance, Citizen A was a Filipino born in Honolulu, Hawaii who then
resided in Batangas for 6 years. Citizen B, on the other hand, is a Filipino
Citizen born under the first year of the term of Mr. Ferdinand Marcos. Who
among the two citizens are the legitimized Filipino Citizen? (Please state the
type of citizenship they acquire.)
• Both Citizen A and B are Filipino, and why is that? Citizen A acquires
Jus sanguinis (right of blood) which is the legal principle that, at birth, an
individual acquires the nationality of his/her natural parent/s, that even
though citizen A was born in Honolulu, Hawaii he/she still have a Filipino
citizenship because of exercising his/her right to live in the Philippines

specifically in Batangas where he/she resided there in 6 years. Meanwhile,

Citizen B acquires Jus Soli In The Philippines where a person acquires the
citizenship of the country where he is born irrespective of the citizenship of
his parents. Justifying this, Citizen B is born under the first year of the term of
Mr. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. where Philippine Constitution adopted the Jus Soli.
