Activity Title: National Security
Instructions: Answer the following questions and make an essay to support your
argument. Add related articles, news, and study in different national security concerns of
the country. Highlight the role of the youth in national security.
1. What is the impact of the contested waters of the South China Sea/West Philippines Sea
to the country national security? Do the Philippines have to stand up and continue its
claim? Expound your answer.
- The impact of the contested waters of the South China Sea/ West Philippine Sea to the
country national security it vast resources can be found on the West Phil Sea , aside from
threats to the Filipino fisherfolk's lives, their livelihood is also affected. Harassment and
incursions of vessels has a huge impact to Philippines fishing industry. The Philippines have a
stand up and continue it's claim because we won in international court against China.
2. How will the new Anti-Terrorism Act affects human security and national security?
-Anti-terror law deprives us of our basic human rights. It will limit us to express our
opinions and oppositions on the wrong doings of the government. On the other hand,
this might be helpful to regulate the numbers of communist in the country. The problem
in this law is that innocent people who objectively criticizing the government might be put
in danger.
3. What must be the reasons why there are people joining the NPA group?
-The New People's Army (NPA) is a left-wing, communist-based, revolutionary
organization that operates under the direction of the Communist Party of the Philippines
(CPP). These communist join groups such as NPA to opposed the unjust system that is
happening to the Philippines. Oftentimes, they engage to military wars that threatens the
national security.
4. How can a student like you, contribute to the National Security of the country? Cite only
practical and attainable action.
-Raising awareness about the conflicts that is happening in our country will give us
insight to what to do, and how to help other people. As a student, finishing school will
give us more knowledge and job opportunities to provide for our daily lives which will
help us become a contributing citizen to the country.
