Reflection Essay 1
In 1301, I learned the study of effective rhetorical choices including, audience, purpose
arrangement and style both individually and collaboratively. I incorporated these techniques into
my first essay. For example, Color is such an impactful and vigorous presence in one’s lifetime.
One must understand the real reason behind why one chooses these certain colors, one can
enhance one's sense of relaxation, advantage, and evaluation in one’s life span. Numerous
psychological articles and questionnaires have been utilized to research the issue to investigate if
perhaps color influences one’s moods and emotions and additionally devote only specific colors
that complement our physique and performance, this suggests that color is such a personal
statement and reveals humanity’s true essence. According to psychologists Strappavara and
Ozabal “There are emotional and symbolic associations with different colors. This is also
revealed in our daily use of language, as we frequently make references to colors for increasing
our expressiveness by invoking different emotions” (Strapparava and Ozabal 31). [This piece of
Following, what did you learn in 1301 that you did not use/was not applicable to your
first essay in 1302? Throughout my English 1301 course I learned how to evaluate multiple
rhetorical appeals and emphasizing their parts of speech and make appropriate communication
choices such as, written, visual, and oral communication and have a sense of problem-solving

capabilities into each essay. Apart from this, what another concept I learn outside of English
1302 that was not applied to Essay 1, was for instance, in my Univ 1302 course I learned the
concept of APA format something I did not use for this essay since it was MLA format.
Additionally, what concept in this first essay was important to learn that can be applied in
other courses? The ability to combine other sources ideas and implement your own into
synthesizing in drawing one’s personal concept and rather it is important or not. For instance, I
explained the psychology behind color and why each individual’ has made those choices and
how it affects their perspectives, specifically daily tasks and circumstances. This is important
because it will help me develop clearer ideas for future projects going towards my career of
interest especially in business. Not only but also, what do you think you learned in this first essay
that will not be applicable to other classes? the fact that conducting and designing an experiment
will not be applicable towards the credits that hints toward my future career.
Subsequently, how does the creation of an experiment with outside research contribute to
improving writing, in general? It gives external, internal, and constructive validity and
psychological realism where the same mental process is used in both the laboratory and in the
real world. As well as how will it help approach writing tasks in the future? I think doing this
investigation will help critical thinking skills and draw conclusions on a topic that for me were
unfamiliarized and will help amplify my knowledge towards the topic or issue. By this statement
I refer to, my second draft of essay one on my discussion section which states, “This survey
analysis aimed to investigate the effect of interpretations and influence of color. The results of
this experiment showed that color truly has a significant effect on intuitiveness and impression.
The findings of this study had several other important implications, firstly, atmosphere plays an
essential role that expressed mood and conveys a dominate emotional effect or appeal,

participant concluded that multiple scenarios in a professional and casual settings that include
school, home, and socialization. According to author David Humane from Organizational
Behavior claims, “But do people in positive moods seek out social interactions or do social
interactions cause people to be in good moods it seems both are true and does the type of social
activity matter indeed it does research suggests that physical (skiing or hiking with friends)
informal (going to a party) or Epicurean (eating with others) activities are more strongly
associated with increases in positive moods than formal” Hume (269). Additionally, the
participant hypothesis was indeed correct due to incorporating matte colors such as black, brown,
gray, purple, emerald, green, and sapphire blue because each of these had multiple approach of
deeper moods and emotions” [This piece of evidence gives a demonstration on why doing this
investigation will help critical thinking skills and draw conclusions on a topic that for me were
unfamiliarized and will help amplify my knowledge towards the topic or issue.] (Galindo, “Essay
Moreover, from the comments you received from the readers of your essay, what are your
writing strengths? Writing weaknesses? Are these weaknesses and strengths have they stayed the
same or different from the weaknesses and strengths that you had previously in 1301? How so? I
think my writing habits have remained the same since 1301 since writing is time consuming and
requires patience and motivation and requires countless times of revising, editing, and deleting.
But I think the same writing mistake I always make that has an impact in making my paper seem
vague are sentence fragments and run-on sentences. For instance, “According to author David
Humane from Organizational Behavior claims, “But do people in positive moods seek out social
interactions or do social interactions cause people to be in good moods it seems both are true and
does the type of social activity matter indeed it does research suggests that physical (skiing or

hiking with friends) informal (going to a party) or Epicurean (eating with others) activities are
more strongly associated with increases in positive moods than formal” Hume (269)” [ this piece
of evidence comes form my second draft of essay one that is a fragment and a run-on sentence
Furthermore, what was the most challenging aspect of this essay? Least challenging? The
most challenging aspect of this writing was the fact on discovering unnecessary information and
breaking it down to the most important claims with its corresponding examples and having the
correct citations for the essay correctly, my least challenging aspect from this essay was
gathering the examples on supporting those specific claims from the experiment. For example, in
essay one there was so much unnecessary information I had to interpret or delete because it did
not fit in the topic such as “I think wearing vibrant colors or neutrals will cause a person’s self-
esteem to be higher and at ease. In contrast, people prefer to wear” [this piece of evidence comes
from my first draft of essay one that is unnecessary information that needed to be modified]
(Galindo, “Essay 1: Draft 1” 4). In contrast to the most challenging, the least challenging aspect
of this essay was gathering examples. For instance, the experimental proposal worksheet was a
great resource in jotting down the ideas I was going to base off the experiment for essay one.
