Paragraphs are used to separate main ideas. A well-written paragraph

has one main idea supported by information that develops or discusses it.
The main idea is expressed in the topic sentence, which is supported and
developed by body sentences. A final (or concluding) sentence concludes
the paragraph.

Exercise 1
Read the paragraph below. Then:

• circle the topic sentence

.
• underline the body sentences
• put a dotted line under the concluding sentence.

.become more responsible-a valuable characteristic for later life. Even little

.children can participate by, for example. clearing the table after a meal, or

putting their toys away. I_~c_?n_::lusion,bei'2_ga hele.f~I~~r::!1~er_of a family
