TECHNICAL GUIDE FOR WITNESSES

[I] LOGIN AND DISPLAY NAME:

STEP 1 – Install Zoom Application for desktop or use it on the browser as per your convenience.
Kindly ensure that the version of the Zoom Application installed on your computer is
updated to the latest version.

NOTE: Witnesses are required to use only their “Laptop Devices” for purposes of the witness
Briefing and Oral Rounds.

STEP 2 –

Sign up with Zoom using your official “SYMLAW ID”.

OR

Sign in directly with Google using your “SYMLAW ACCOUNT”.

STEP 3 – Change your Zoom display name as per the Witness Profile allocated to you. For
example, if you have been allotted Prosecution Witness 1 – Umberto Eco in Chamber 1 then change
your display name to “CH 1 – PW 1 – Umberto Eco”.

[II] GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR JOINING:

I. Join the Zoom Link for attendance at 7:30 A.M. for morning session and at 1:30 P.M for
the afternoon session on the respective days.

NOTE: All students participating as witnesses on April 21 & 22, 2023, are requested to join in
for the attendance in the following order:
i.21 April 2023: Morning Session: Witnesses for Preliminary Round 1 & the Contingency
for Preliminary Round 1.
ii.21 April 2023: Afternoon Session: Witnesses for Preliminary Round 2 & the Contingency
for Preliminary Round 2.
iii.22 April 2023: Morning Session: Witnesses for Preliminary Round 3 & the Contingency
for Preliminary Round 3.

II. The witnesses will be required to pre-register on the Zoom link mentioned hereunder (the same is
also mentioned in the email) using their SYMLAW ID.

III. After attendance, the witnesses will be required to join the Zoom Link which they will receive in
their email after successfully pre-registering for the meeting. The witnesses must join the said meeting
as per their fixtures before commencement of the oral rounds for Witness Briefing by the
participating teams for a duration of 30 minutes.

IV. On clicking the above Zoom Link, the participants shall enter the “Main Session Room” where they
shall be assigned a Breakout Room. On receiving the “Breakout Rooms” pop up please click on
“Join Breakout Room”.

V. Once in the Breakout Room, the participants shall have 30 minutes for discussion with the

witnesses. After the said 30-minute lapse, please click on ‘Leave Breakout Room’. Do not
click on ‘Leave Meeting’.

VI. You will be redirected to the Main Session Room where you will be required to wait until
instructed to join your respective Chamber Rooms. While in the Main Session Room, the
witnesses must refrain from indulging in any form of communication with the teams
whatsoever.

VII. To join the respective Chamber Rooms, you will receive another “Breakout Rooms” pop up
please click on “Join Breakout/ Chamber Room”.

VIII. On entering the Chamber Room, the witnesses are required to switch off their video
cameras and keep themselves on mute for the duration of the round, until the participants
call the respective witnesses to testify. The witnesses are required to be attentive at all times
during the session and promptly respond when called upon by the participants.

IX. The witnesses can only leave the Chamber Room after the conclusion of the respective
Preliminary Round.

In case a witness gets disconnected from the Witness Briefing Breakout Room or the Chamber
Room they must re-join the Main Session Room and click on the Breakout Rooms button and
then click on “Join Breakout Room”.
