Introduction

This manual explains the Daily Check ROI for the Hitachi whole-body X-ray CT system, ECLOS.

To maintain normal performance for a long period, it is essential to have a full understanding of the functions,
operation, and maintenance of the system. Read the instruction manuals on Systems, Imaging Analysis and
Radiography thoroughly before using this system. After reading the manuals keep them in a location near the
system for easy reference.

Essential Prescribing Information

See ECLOS System manual for EPI information not contained here.

Chapter 1 - Outline

1.1 Daily Check ROI functions

In order to measure the status of the system by setting ROIs (Regions Of Interest) for a photographed
phantom, set the ROIs on the screen, and calculate the following:

z Surface area of the ROIs

z The mean and standard deviation for the CT values within the ROIs

NOTE:
Usually no more than 4 ROIs can be set under standard ROI settings. In Daily Check
ROI, a maximum of 6 ROIs can be set for each image.

3.1 Setting Up ROIs

In Daily Check ROI, a maximum of 6 oval-shaped ROIs can be set.
You can use the following three methods to set ROIs:

1 Click the (Ellipse) button (B in the figure), and then draw the ROI.

2 Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Default ROI, and
then draw the ROI.

3 Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Modified ROI,
and then draw the ROI.

(1) Click the (Ellipse) button (B in the figure), and then draw the ROI.

[Procedure]

Ⅰ In the Daily Check ROI dialog box, click the button(the (Ellipse) button, B in the

figure).
The button changes to a plus mark (+).

Ⅱ On the frame, drag the mouse.

An oval is set, with a radius from the start point of the drag to the end point of the drag.

Drag

(2) Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Default ROI, and
then draw the ROI.

Using this method, you can set a maximum of 6 ROIs in preset locations on the ROI.

[Procedure]
Ⅰ Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Default ROI.
Ⅱ Click the Draw button.
Six ROIs are set in preset locations on the first frame image.

HINT:
ROIs with radius of 30 pixels are set in the following locations on the original figure.
A to F indicate the ROI figure numbers.

(-128,128) C (0,128) (128,128)

D E

(-128,0) (0,0) A (128,0)

B F X

(3) Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Modified ROI,
and then draw the ROI.

Using this method, on an image you can reset user-saved ROI information. (For details on how
to save ROI information, see "3.2 Saving ROI Information".)

[Procedure]
Ⅰ Using the Default ROI, Modified ROI option button (D in the figure), select Modified
ROI.
Ⅱ Click the Draw button.
The saved ROI settings are loaded, and the ROIs are set on the first frame image.

y Clicking the Draw button enables you to set an ROI in the first frame only.
y When you click the Draw button and the total number of ROIs in the first frame
and loaded ROIs exceeds the maximum (6), a dialog box is displayed and asks
about the drawing method.

If the maximum number (6) of ROIs is exceeded while using Method 2 or Method 3, the
following dialog box is displayed.

3.2 Saving ROI Information

The user can save set ROI information. The procedure is as follows.

1 Click the first frame to select it.

2 Click the Save button.
The information for the ROIs set in the first frame is saved.

y You can save the ROIs on the first frame only.

1 When you place the pointer on an ROI line, the pointer changes to . In
this state, click the ROI. When you do so, □handles will appear and are
selected. By dragging in bi-directional arrow, you can enlarge or reduce
the ROI.

3.3.2 Moving ROIs ·····························································································

1 When you place the pointer on an ROI line, the pointer changes to . In
this state, click the ROI. When you do so, □handles will appear and are
selected.
To select multiple items, click the items while pressing the Shift key.
2 Drag the mouse.
While the pointer shape is , you can move the ROI by dragging the
mouse.
NOTE: When only one ROI is selected, the dialog box for the ROI settings is displayed as
shown below. You can then directly type values into the text box to change the center
co-ordinates and the radius.
