LESSON 1

OUTCOME-BASED EDUCATION(OBE) FRAMEWORK

What is OBE?
Outcome-Based Education is a student-centered approach to learning that
emphasizes the desired learning outcomes or competencies as the starting point for
curriculum design, teaching, and assessment.
Framework of OBE Key Terms:
 Institutional ILO’s - These are the broadest level of learning outcomes and
represent the overall educational goals of the institution.
 Program ILO’s - These are more specific than institutional ILO’s and represent
the learning outcomes for a particular program or study.
 Course ILO’s - These are the most specific level of learning outcomes and
represent the learning outcomes for a particular course.
 Curriculum - It specifies the content and sequence of learning experiences.
 Instruction - It refers to the method and strategies used to deliver the
curriculum.
 Outcome-Based Learning Tasks - These are the educational activities
designed to help students achieve specific learning outcomes.
 Assessment - It is used to measure the extent to which students have achieved
the learning outcomes. Example of these are tests, projects, assignments, and
performance-based assessments.

LESSON 2

PRINCIPLES OF OBE

The principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) are the fundamental ideas and
values that guide the design, implementation, and assessment of educational programs
based on their intended learning outcomes.

PRINCIPLES OF OBE HOW IT HAPPENED

Clarity of Focus The teacher starts by introducing specific

topic and clearly defining the learning
outcomes for students.

The teacher designs the instruction and

activities based on the desired learning

outcomes. By implementing those
activities, she will be able to determine the
student’s learning gap from the given
topic.

The teacher provide expanded

opportunities for learning and

achievement. She uses a variety of
teaching strategies to meet the diverse
needs of her students such as hands-on
activities, small-group work, and
individualized instruction.

The teacher set high expectations for her

student’s learning by providing
High Expectations
assessment that challenges the students to
think critically. She communicates to her
student’s that she expects them to master
the skills she has defined.

LESSON 3

2E-2A MODEL OF INSTRUCTION

2E-2A Model of Instruction is a framework that serves as the guide for teachers to
facilitate learning or to align teaching with how students learn effectively.
Four (4) Phases of 2E-2A Model of Instruction:

This is the first phase. The teacher

introduces the topic and then works to gain
an understanding of students prior
knowledge and identify knowledge gap. It
helps students connect with the lesson and
understand why it is important.

This is the second phase. It helps

learners develop their understanding of the
content and engage with the material in
meaningful ways. Learners are encourage to
explore the content in a variety of ways,
encourage to reflect on their learning, provide
feedback, and add newBhgbjkhlkjlokj;
information.

This is the third phase. The teacher provide

tasks to apply their gained knowledge and
skills to real-world situations such as
demonstration, role-playing activities, and
simulations. They are provided with
resources and structured frameworks or
guides to help learners work through
challenges.

This is the fourth and final phase. The

teacher administer assessments that are
aligned to the ILO to determine their
mastery.

express themselves creatively such as creating and editing text, images, audio, and
video. It also provides access to a wide range of digital resources, including e-
books, online courses, and digital educational materials.

INTERACTIVE DIGITAL MEDIA provide a more dynamic and interactive

learners to understand complex concepts and retain information more
effectively. It can also promotes active learning, which involves learners actively
participating in the learning process rather then simply passively receiving
information.
