Can A Moment Come From Sound?

Sound. Is it just noise or can it be a moment captured on the strings? Initially, people

come together because they relate to the music they listen to. They come together via the

internet, live shows, etc. Which in turn creates a community with a lot of interaction. Eventually,

they start to relate to each other and share each other's stories. If we take a closer look at this

cycle, we can easily see how these interactions are so addictive.

Music is often the most expensive but also liberating in a therapeutic sense. Harmony is

the key to making music therapeutic and relaxing, not only for the ears but for the mind and

body. A string orchestra can play as quietly or as ferociously as possible. Sound, itself, can be

quite a challenge for both music and ensemble. However, with this challenge comes a great

threat that can either damage the instrument or cause discord in the sound. If an instrument were

to break, it would be about a thousand dollars to replace either parts or the whole instrument.

In the same way, music calms the soul, it can unify parts of people, religions,

communities, etc. When people advertise a concert, whether, in the form of fliers, social media,

or even commercials, they try to get people to come and unite for a short while. No matter what

form of communication the artist or ensemble uses, they try to get people to come and enjoy

some music for a few hours or even just a few minutes. To be able to unify a crowd or

community speaks a lot about the types of people and types of genre.

Similar to getting stage fright or being nervous, when an ensemble is having trouble

getting the rhythm right or is struggling to produce the right sound it could be very bad for the

performance. If an ensemble can’t get the right pitch or sound, the song or performance could be

muddled or even difficult to follow. Sometimes just one person can be enough to confuse the

audience between what they are hearing and the story behind the song. That’s why when it

comes to practicing, the conductor has to ensure the performers know the song, rhythm, and

notes by ear and by heart.

In short, music can be quite challenging to master, and even when mastered it still is a

struggle to perfect. Music is a cycle of imperfections and mistakes, but from those, we learn how

to master it and create a beautiful moment. Music is the key to being aware of what you hear,

see, and feel both around you and inside you. So, in truth, music is more then just sounds coming

out of instruments, it is a moment where music no longer becomes a sound it becomes a moment

in either your head or in your heart.
