Activity # 2 (Prelim Period)

Name: Rossemare Gabriel C. Torregosa Course: BSMA-2 Date: 9/22/22 Score: ________

Answer the following questions:

1. Job analysis is often referred to as the cornerstone of HR management. Do you

agree? Why or why not?
Yes, I definitely agree that job analysis is the cornerstone of human resource
management in the main reason that all HR activities heavily relied on it. Imagine if
job analysis will be removed as part of human resource activities. Indeed, the
following stages will just rely on guessing, thus resulting in a less objective outcome.
It will result in an inaccurate description of the typical employee that the
organization needs. Job analysis is the foundation of an excellent management of a
workforce. It is where the nature of a job is systematically broken and examined into
its tiniest parts. That is why it is the cornerstone of HR management.

2. What method of job analysis do you think would be most applicable for jobs in a
food chain or a mall/department store?
In my own opinion, the job analysis method that would be most applicable
for jobs in food chains, malls, and department stores is observation. The main reason
for this conclusion is the nature of the job. These types of work are more on physical
activities, which are directly observable. Through observation, one can have a first-
hand view on how an employee performs its duties and responsibilities in an actual
job setting. A good attitude towards customers is also a key to these jobs, and this
method will allow an analyst to see how a person behaves. Furthermore, it is a good
way of measuring the mental and emotional ability of an employee in facing
challenges. That is why observation is the best method to use in jobs like these. But
of course, for an observation to be free from biases, it definitely requires a well-
trained job analyst.
