Module 1
BSBAHRM 2-2 Advanced Software Packages

I. Explain what data is, its significance and how does it differ from
information.
Data consists primarily of raw statistics and facts that have been gathered
to serve as the basis for information, which helps people to further
understand the information and helps make decisions. Data and
Information are different. Data is just raw facts and statistics that have no
meaning and relevance, whereas Information is accurate and timely data
that can improve comprehension and reduce uncertainty. For example, in a
class, all the test grades in each individual homework are the data while the
average grade in each class is the information.

II. Differentiate quantitative data from qualitative data. Explain when it is

necessary to use quantitative data, qualitative data, and a mixture between
the two.
Quantitative data is a measure of values that can be expressed as
numbers that can be qualified while qualitative data consists of words,
pictures, and symbols which cannot be expressed as numbers and cannot
be measured. The use of data must be aligned with the purpose of the
study. That is why it is best to use quantitative data if you want to be
specific and narrow to seek measurable and observable data, use
qualitative data if you want it to be general and broad that seek to
understand people's experiences, and use the mixture of both if you want
broad and narrow results to acquire more in-depth understanding with the
results by comparing and contrasting.

III. Enumerate 2 examples of nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.

Nominal- Country of Origin and Marital Status
Ordinal- Degree of Satisfaction and Educational Background
Interval- Likert Scale and Net Promoter Score
Ratio- Height and Weight
