C. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS & PRACTICING NEW SKILLS

1) STATISTICS

“A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS”

- Graphs and charts help us to easily interpret the data given, and they can help to
show a relationship, a trend, or a comparison.
Statistics – is the branch of mathematics that deals with;

1

CONCLUSION

DATA
- It is a set of values of quantitative and qualitative variables.
- From which conclusions can be drawn to answer the problem posed at the start
of the study.

2) USES OF STATISTICS

Statistics can be applied generally. It is an essential tool in the following fields:

“EDUCATION”
1. EDUCATION – Statistical tools are used to get information regarding enrollment,
finance, physical facilities, to describe the scores or grades of the students, etc.

“BUSINESS”

2. BUSINESS & ECONOMICS – Statistics can provide better products at reasonable

costs through statistical quality control techniques.

“SCIENCE”

3. SCIENCE AND MEDICINES – the data resulting from experiments must be

collected and analyzed. Contagious diseases are controlled through analysis to prevent
pandemics like Covid-19 virus.

“GOVERNMENT”

4. GOVERNMENT – many kinds of statistical data are collected all the time. An
example of this is conducting a survey to identify the qualified families for 4Ps
(Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program).
3) IMPORTANCE OF STATISTICS
- The Importance of statistics in the life of humans is it helps to gather
information, provides an easy way to depict tabular, graphical, and
diagrammatic representations of data, and plays a big role in our daily lives,
especially in education, business, science, and government.

4) POPULATION AND SAMPLE

a. POPULATION – is a complete collection of all elements to be studied.

b. SAMPLE –a subset of a population that will serve as a representative of the whole

population.

D. DEVELOPING MASTERY

LET’S TRY!
Instruction: Enumerate the following.
1. What are the 4 branches of statistics?
2. What are the 4 uses of statistics in our daily lives?
3. What are the 2 Statistical Population of Statistics?

E. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF CONCEPTS AND SKILLS IN

DAILY LIVING

Reflect on this: “STATISTICS HELPS TO RECORD THE PAST, PRESENT, AND THE
FUTURE.”
F. GENERALIZATION

QUESTION AND ANSWER:

1. What is statistics?
2. How can statistics help us in our daily lives?
3. What is the importance of statistics?
4. What are the differences between the population and the sample?

G. EVALUATING LEARNING

LET’S DO MORE!
Instruction: Make an essay about statistics based on your own understanding.

H. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR REMEDIATION

Instruction: make use of your cellphones, and research about the nature of data of statistics and the
two types of statistics and its parts.
