• Old: Hotels and restaurants have a problem with recycling their food waste. Since 2018, only
about 5% of organic waste in Indiana has been recycled. People in Indiana wanted recycled
material and since we only recycled 5% there was no material to give out.

• New (Final): Our goal is to solve the problem Indiana has with recycling concerning food and
general waste from hotels and restaurants - such as FlapJack’s or Quality Inn, according to a study
done in 2022, the hospitality industry generates 440 billion pounds of solid waste each year due to
the fact that these businesses constantly throw things away.
