1. What is ethernet cable?

Ethernet is a method of physically connecting computers and other network devices. A local area
network, or LAN, is a common name for this. An Ethernet network is designed to make it easy for
computers and other devices to efficiently transfer files, data, and information.

2. What are the two types of Twisted Pair Cable?


 Unshielded twisted pair (UTP). These cables generally comprise wires and insulators.
 Shielded twisted pair (STP). These cables come with a braided, wired mesh that encases each
pair of insulated copper wires.

4. What is the difference between straight trhough and crossover cable?

Connecting 2 devices of different types together, you use a straight through cable. On the other hand,
when connecting two devices who are the same type, you use a crossover cable.

5. Give definition of each of the terms

Modem – a device that transforms signals produced by one type of device to a form compatible with
another. It is used to transmit and receive information between computers.

Router – a device that passes data packets between two or more packet-switched computer networks.

Switch - A network switch connects devices in a network to each other, enabling them to talk by
exchanging data packets. Switches can be hardware devices that manage physical networks or software-
based virtual devices.
