This instruction will cover the rework of the transmission cases for the machines that are listed above. The rework will involve installing new bore
r In
sleeves into the cases. Refer to the reference documents for complete disassembly instructions.
Initial Steps
c.
1. Confirm that the case seal bore has been worn by the seal carrier and the wear exceeds the bore specification of 69.9 ± 0.05 mm
(2.75 ± 0.002 inch) before continuing with this rework.
2. Proceed with the necessary investigation to determine and fix the root cause.

453-4774 Sleeve 1
Note: The 453-4774 Sleeve is only compatible with Transmission shaft 3 and shaft 4.
This rework can be performed with either the new sleeve in Table 2 or with a fabricated sleeve. After removing the transmission from the machine,
skip to the appropriate section.
1. Remove and disassemble the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8639 , "Transmission - Disassemble" for complete
instructions.

2. Freeze the 453-4774 Sleeve. Install the sleeve into the case bore. Be sure that the port holes are properly aligned.
Note: Seal between the sleeve and case bore with Loctite® 680TM Retaining Compound or equivalent.

3. Machine the sleeve so the sleeve is flush with 'Face A'. Refer to the above Illustration for details. Also machine the inside diameter of the sleeve
to the shown dimension.
4. Reassemble the transmission and reinstall into the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8639 , "Transmission - Assemble".

1. Bore out the affected shaft seal carrier bore. The new bore size should be larger than the outside edge of the 30 degree chamfer (A) shown in
Illustrations 4 through 7
3. Obtain a cast gray iron sleeve with material matching the following specifications:
Note: The sleeve will need to be press fit into the case bore to achieve a proper fit.
4. Freeze the sleeve to fit the sleeve into the case bore. Apply Loctite® 680TM Retaining Compound to the reworked case bore diameter prior to
sleeve installation. Fit the sleeve into the case bore.

5. Drill three new port holes in the sleeve at the three shown locations for the case bore you are reworking. Each port size should be the same
diameter as the access hole or port in the case. Refer to Illustrations 8 through 13 for the drill locations for each shaft bore.
Note: Shaft bore four requires drilling from the ECPC control valve manifold.
6. Finish bore the sleeve per the Illustration for particular shaft bore being reworked. Cut the chamfer per the Illustration for the particular shaft
bore being reworked.

Note: 0.25 mm (0.0098 inch) max removal from the Case surface (Seal Carrier Cover side).
7. Reinstall clutch supply plugs.
Note: The 6Y-3083 Plug should be installed and the ball must be pressed or driven down until the top of the ball is below the edge of the sleeve.
8. Clean all shavings and machining material from the transmission case.
9. Reassemble the transmission and reinstall into the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR8639 , "Transmission - Assemble".
