Method Statement for Cable Laying

1 Preparation

1.1 Ensure that the materials to be used for installation are of the inspected and approved brands and type.

1.2 Ensure that the installation works procedures are fully comprehended by the supervisor and his workers.

1.3 Ensure that no cables shall route / run in the trunking or conduit unless for it used.

1.4 High voltage cable laying together with low voltage signal/control cable must be avoided.

1.5 Sharp metal object must remove to avoid cutting of cable.

2 Cable Laying

2.1 Study the latest shop drawings to lay the appropriate and correct quantity of cables to the Equipment / Device / Circuit.

2.2 Measured the Distance On-site with a measuring tape from our Panel to the Equipment /Device/Circuit.

2.3 Mark on one end of the cable to be pulled for laying it to the Equipment/Device with a Permanent Marker, the number of
cables laid to it in ascending order followed by the Equipment / Device / Circuit name.

2.4 Pull the Cables to be laid to the Measured Length adding 20% more to it and cut off using a wire cutter.

2.5 Lay the cables to the Equipment / Device, after the trunking and conduit to it have been inspected and approved
(if required)

2.6 Cut off the excess cables in the panel and Equipment / Device, leaving an allowance of 2 meters, if applicable. The excess
cables shall be suitably wound up or stack properly in the panels.

2.7 Housekeeping is executed on the areas worked.

2.8 Perform continuity check of the cables for any breakage and record all the readings.

2.9 Supervisor to check and make sure all laying Cable is secured and ready for inspection.

2.10 Call for inspection with main-con and RTO.

2.11 Approval from RTO before cable termination.

3 Cable Termination

3.1 Check the cable tagging ID for the correct cable.
