Centrifugal pump

 The purpose :
are used to induce flow or raise a liquid from a
low level to a high level.

 Introduction
A centrifugal pump is a machine.” Every
centrifugal pump includes an assembly of
mechanical components that make operation of
the pump possible. This mechanical assembly
includes the pump shaft mounted on bearings,
the sealing mechanism that keeps the pump from
leaking excessively, structural components
designed to handle the stresses and loads
imposed on the pump during operation, and wear
surfaces that allow the pump to be repaired and
returned to its original specifications.
 The advantage of each part of the complete system

1. Impeller. Impeller is a rotor used to increase the kinetic energy of the

flow.
2. Shaft sealing which helps prevent the leakage of the pumped liquid.
3. Casing (Volute). The casing contains the liquid and acts as a pressure
containment vessel that directs the flow of liquid in and out of the
centrifugal pump
4. Bearings.reduce friction between the rotating shaft and the stator.
5. Shaft  is a mechanical component for transmitting torque from the motor
to the impeller
6. stator: provides a rotating magnetic field that
drives the rotating armature when A.C
current passes through it
7. squirrel cage rotor :it is the rotating part of
motor the interaction of magnetic field of a
current in the stator and rotor produce a
torgue on the rotor
8. motor frame :to provide mechanical
protection and support for the windings

 operating principle of induction motor

when a three phase a.c current passes through the
winding it produces a rotating magnetic field this rmf
is what causes the rotor to turn the current will be
induced in the bars of sguirrel cage so the rotor is
start to rotates that’s why its called induction motor
The main difference between single phase induction motor and three phase
induction motor is that single phase motors are NOT self-starting so they require
some starting mechanism while three-phase motors are self-starting
