2477 FINAL EXAM – INSTRUCTIONS

The final exam will be solved in your computer using Moodle and Safe Exam Browser.
Safe Exam Browser is simply a browser which allows us to control what is allowed to be open
in your computer while you’re in exam time.
You just need to download and install the program (all the rest is configured automatically
when you start the exam through Moodle)

STEPS TO DO BEFORE THE DAY OF THE EXAM

1- Install Safe Exam Browser:

a. Download from Safe Exam Browser - Download Latest Releases according to
your operating system.
b. Follow the installation process.
c. When done you can try and open the program
d. If a screen like this appears you’re ready.

2- Make sure you know your Nova Email Password to Log-in Moodle. Write it in the
cheat-sheet!
a. You will not have access to the saved passwords in your computer and you
will have to input your password to start the exam.
3- You don’t need to do anything else. You’re ready for the exam!

ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM – FLOW

1. When it is time to start the exam you will need to go to Moodle and open the Final
Exam Activity like below:
2. The following screen will appear:

3. Click on “Launch Safe Exam Browser”

4. Safe Exam Browser will open, and the Microsoft Login page will appear. Put your
Nova email and password.
5. The Moodle Quiz page will open automatically after that and you’ll be able to
attempt the quiz.
a. In the browser page you’ll have three buttons.
b. Refresh the page, go back to the moodle exam page, quit browser (only with
Teachers password):

6. When it is time to start the exam you click “Attempt quiz now”

7. It will ask you for a password which will be given by the Teacher in your exam room.
8. After you start you will see the following page (where you have the link to the
Jupyter environment where the exam is)
a. You’ll have to come back to this page at the end of your exam to upload and
submit the exam.
9. Click on “LINK FOR THE JUPYTER ENVIRONMENT WITH THE EXAM”:

10. You’re now on the environment where you’ll do the exam. Click on the exam file on
the left and you can start your exam.
11. When you finish the exam make sure it is saved and then click on “Download”

12. Go back to the Moodle Exam page (where you started!) and upload the file in the
appropriate box

13. If you uploaded but then changed something in the file, you can delete the upload
you made by clicking on the file and then “Delete”

14. After you uploaded your Exam you click “Finish Attempt”. And a page to submit the
exam will appear. After you submit you can’t make more changes to your exam!

15. After you submit a button to exit the Safe Exam Browser will open. You can click it
and exit the exam. IMPORTANT THAT YOU CLICK ON EXIT OTHERWISE YOUR
COMPUTER GETS BLOCKED!!
