NCM 109 CLINICAL CONCEPT
OBJECTIVES, MECHANICS, & HOUSE RULES OF ORAL REVALIDA
 
OBJECTIVES:

1. To evaluate the student’s cognitive competencies in NCM 109 Care of Mother


and Child @ Risk or with Problems
2. To stimulate the student’s critical thinking ability related to the different
disease process identified in NCM 109.
3. To apply the learnings from theories in the nursing management of patients in
NCM 109 thru clinical case scenarios via concept mapping.

 
STUDENT REQUIREMENT:

1. Attendance on the set schedule.Before you enter the google meet, make sure
your set-up is already complete. You will be asked to let your CI survey your
area for its completeness. Make sure that you are ALONE in your room or
area where you will conduct your ORV.
2. Be in uniform and well-groomed at all times.
3. Prepare these materials with you:
4. 3 pcs of clean manila paper posted on the wall for concept mapping of
diseases with 3 highly prioritized and 2 NCP.
5. Permanent marker
6. 2 gadgets (1) to work with, and (1) monitoring, option: mirror for monitoring,
non compliance will not be allowed to perform the oral revalida.Make sure
you have a 2nd gadget or a mirror infront of your laptop screen and the CI can
clearly visualize your screen with only the case scenario shared by your CI
and no other tab opened except for the google meet.
7. The student will place his/her monitoring device or mirror in such a way that
the CI can visualize your laptop screen and area. Make sure the area where
your laptop is placed is clean and clear of any materials or items. Prior to the
start of ORV, the CI will check your area and placement of mirror or 2 nd
device so come in 10 minutes before your scheduled time.
8. Stable Internet connection and working gadget (both camera and mic) and/or
mirror or another gadget must be observed. You are not allowed to turn off
your video during the course of the oral revalida.
9. Students are not allowed to have any learning materials on hand during the
course of the oral revalida.
10. Students are not allowed to communicate with his/her
classmates/groupmates on the content and the outcome of his/her oral
revalida.
11. Failure to comply with the last two requirements will mean CHEATING and
will be subject to deliberation.

MECHANICS and HOUSE RULES:

1. The student will be asked to enter the virtual class via a prompt from their GC
or based on your CI’s instruction. Set up with mirror or extra gadget is already
available prior to joining the google meet.
2. The student will choose a number from 1-13 that will determine the disease
she/he will discuss in the course of the oral revalida.
3. The student’s chosen number corresponding to the clinical case scenario will
be flashed on the screen and would stay on the screen during the course of
the oral revalida. *NOTE:There would be no other tab or materials in your
screen other than the case to be shared by your clinical instructor
4. The student must read and analyze the case on the screen, the allotted time
is 1 hour and 15 minutes, starting with the student’s statement of the case
(you are only allowed to have 3 guesses) if correct then proceed with your
discussion thru concept map.
5. Within this time the student must be able to discuss everything in concept
mapping and answer the questions that will be raised by your respective C.I.
The student should use English language all throughout the
discussion.TIMER will STRICTLY BE IMPLEMENTED by your CI.
6. The student must be able to discuss thru concept map and answer the
questions raised by your CI during the course of your discussion.
7. The student will be asked to write down 3 highly prioritized nursing diagnoses
for critiquing of the CI after which you will write (1) NCP for the highly
prioritized nursing diagnosis. Then discuss your NCP.
8. The student will have to write on the manila paper via concept map and
make sure to discuss orally while standing near your posted manila paper on
the wall and you will have to answer questions raised by your CI during the
course of your discussion.
9. C.I’s feedback of your performance in the Oral Revalida will be given at the
end of your discussion.
10. Final grade for oral revalida will be accomplished by your CI in canvas. This
is 50% of your CP grade for NCM 109 RLE-Hospital.
11. Grading System: 50% (oral rev grade) 30% quizzes 20% SEA.
