The Nervous System

Directions: Read & answer the following. Be sure to describe each.

The Role of the Nervous System

The nervous system is responsible
for signal transmission between
the brain and the rest of the body,
including internal organs. In this
way, the nervous system's activity
regulates our ability to move,
breathe, see, think, and do other
things. A nerve cell, often known
as a neuron, is the basic unit of
the neurological system.

Health Habits That Prevent Disorders of the Nervous System

Doing good breathing exercises might also help to keep the neurological system healthy. Keep
yourself safe from potentially upsetting situations. Every day, get plenty of sleep. Little meals
at regular intervals are recommended.

How does the nervous system related or interconnected to the

reproductive system?
Hormones are secreted into the blood and other bodily fluids by the endocrine
system. These molecules are essential for metabolism, development, water and
mineral balance, and stress response. Hormones influence neuronal processing
by providing feedback to the brain. Reproductive hormones influence nervous
system development.

How does the nervous system helps in maintaining

homeostasis of the body?
By controlling and regulating the other elements of the body, the nervous system
maintains homeostasis. A variation from a regular set point functions as a
stimulation to a receptor, which transmits nerve impulses to the brain's
regulating center.

Parts of the Nervous System and its two Major Divisions

Functions of the Central Nervous System:

It governs intelligence, memory, personality, emotion, speech, and movement. It is
separated into left and right hemispheres that are joined by the corpus callosum, a band
of nerve fibers in the center of the brain.

Brain:
The central nervous system is the processing center of the body. The brain is in charge of
the majority of the body's operations, including awareness, movement, thinking, speaking,
and the five senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, taste, and smelling.

Spinal Cord :
The spinal cord relays messages from the brain to the nerves that run throughout the
body.

Two Classification of the cells of the nervous system.

Despite the complexity of the nervous system, nerve tissue has only two
types of cells. The neuron is the real nerve cell. It is the structural unit of
the nervous system and the "conducting" cell that sends impulses.
Neuroglia, often known as glial cells, are another type of cell.
