Home Economics: The Wellness Program


1. How does the food pyramid relate to the family’s wellness?
 By following the food pyramid in your diet, a family will become physically healthy.
 By eating properly, it will contribute to mental wellness of the family.
 By eating properly, it will contribute to good emotional health of a family.
 Being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle could lead to good social skills and bond of a
family.
 By eating healthy foods, it will lead to good decisions on making environment healthy as
well.
 Healthy eating based on food pyramid could lead to family’s healthy and glowing skin,
less hairful and shiny hair, strong teeth and bones.

2. Wellness program is not a passive state but a dynamic and conscious development of a whole
self. It’s not merely the absence of disease. How does your own family cope with this
program, covering the 8 dimensions of wellness? Give 3 ways on each dimension.
A. Physical
 Eating the right amount of healthy foods.
 Exercise body by doing household chores.
 Getting enough amount of sleep.
B. Emotional
 Be open to share what you feel to the members of the family.
 Knowing how to respond to each family members emotional needs.
 Parents model behavior that encourage and respect the feelings of others.
C. Social
 Open communication to every family member.
 Setting a time to bond together.
 Be there to support a family member in every milestone of his/her life.
D. Environmental
 Cleaning the backyard.
 Taking care and watering plants.
 Throwing garbage in the right place.
E. Occupational
 Enjoy what you do and never think it’s a burden.
 Always make the best of what you can do.
 Love what you are doing.
F. Spiritual
 Go to church every Sunday.
 Pray everyday and always.
 Read the bible to guide you in the right path.
G. Intellectual
 Keep on reading.
 Keep on learning from videos, from other people, or from what you read.
 Be always ready to share what you know in order to help.
H. Financial
 Spend your money appropriately, never waste it for unnecessary things.
 Save money for future uses and/or emergency.
 Share your blessings.
