Brunei holds meet-and-greet event for royal birthday

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Brunei held an event of meeting and greeting the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah
and other members of the royal family at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri
Begawan on Sunday. The event was attended by around 3,000 people. Brunei's sultan turned 76 years
old this year.

Hundreds of schoolchildren and the public lined at Jalan Sultan and waved mini flags as His Majesty
arrived to the Taman, accompanied by the sound of the hadrah.
Next, the national anthem is performed. Following that, His Majesty and members of the royal family
witnessed a colourful performance – a mix of traditional and modern dancing and singing. Titled ‘Raja
Untuk Rakyat dan Rakyat Untuk Raja’, the performance involved over 400 performers from primary and
secondary school students in the Brunei-Muara District.

After the performance, His Majesty and members of the royal family met the performers on stage and
mingled with public. The event continued along Jalan Sultan, where His Majesty and members of the
royal family met the students before continuing to go to Lapau for a lunch.

Finally, the event concluded with the royal entourage heading back to the capital by car.
