Question 1
Peter purchased a landed property located in Petaling Jaya. According to the Sales and
Purchase
Agreement (SPA) dated 1 Oct 2022, the purchase consideration is RM780,000.

In November 2022, he obtained a loan from CIMB for RM550,000 for the purchase of the
property. He will settle the remaining balance using his own savings.

Due to an oversight, the SPA was not submitted until 1 February 2023 and the stamp duty
was paid on that date. Peter owned several properties prior to this.

Required:
Compute the total stamp duty payable by Peter to the tax authority in respect of:

i) Purchase of the landed property.


ii) Bank loan agreement.

Question 2
Betty acquired a residential house located in Shah Alam, Selangor on 30 November 2022.
The acquisition price stated in the sales and purchase agreement amounted to RM650,000.
Betty obtained a house loan amounting to RM585,000 to finance the purchase of the house.
Betty had acquired several properties before this.

Required:
Compute the total stamp duty payable by Betty to the tax authority in respect of:
i) Purchase of the residential house.
ii) House loan agreement.
