Explain the importance of coordination with leaders of the community.

Can a community function without the cooperation of its people and leaders? No. A community is an
entity that can be thought of a mix of various groups and hierarchies. It is critical for these groups to
collaborate in order to achieve organizational goals. As a result, coordination becomes a key driver of
success and growth. Community leaders are representatives who approach, persuade, and influence
followers, which sets them apart from traditional leaders who merely set an example. Community
leadership involves building social capital and improving the lives of its members. It is less
hierarchical and frequently based on volunteer work. Their job is to work with the people in the
community, and not to solve all of their problems. Community leaders inspire and direct others, ease
the decision-making and problem-solving processes, and invent for the good of the community as a
whole. Because a community is an important part of a leader's identity, coordination is essential. It
stands to reason that in order to properly effect positive change in a community, suitable leaders must
either come from that community or be well adjusted within it or coordinate with them in order to be
able to make positive changes. Leaders are more capable of leading a community toward the success
that is most suitable for them when they have a thorough cooperation and understanding of the
community's values, abilities, and ideals. This success is one in which they can take pride and which
they can sustain no matter what challenge comes their way. Now coordination with leaders of the
community is important because coordination facilitates the connection of multiple leaders and
communities. Community leaders can connect these community agendas to achieve the desired results.
If such communities and their leaders do not communicate with one another, resources will be wasted
and results may be delayed. Collaboration of community leaders can be used in almost any situation,
and it is used successfully in some businesses, but it is seen more frequently in community coalitions
and programs, community-based health and human service organizations, or alternative education.
People frequently find it especially useful in situations where "no one is in charge," where issues or
problems are so complex that no single person or entity has either the information or the power to
change them. This does not imply that no one is responsible, but rather that sharing responsibility for
the issue is required for a successful resolution. A leader must inspire the community to succeed in its
own right. Trying to imitate the success of a completely different community with entirely different
values will not get you anywhere. Everyone brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to the table.
An effective leader uses what each member of the community has to offer to help build and push the
community toward their own success. Collaborative leadership encourages everyone to participate in
decision making and problem solving; it makes what people do their own, rather than something
imposed on them by others. The sense of ownership increases commitment to the common goal.
