Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 4

I. Objectives:
At the end of the interactive discussion, 80% of the pupils should be able to:
A. Determine the area of the triangle;
B. Solve the given problem using the formula in getting the area of a triangle, and;
C. Value and respect the Philippine flag.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Finding the area of a Triangle
B. References: Mathematics 4 (Learners Manual) pp.205-208
C. Materials: Flash Cards, Score board, Manila Paper, Mini flag, and Cartolina
D. Values Focus: Respect for the flag (Araling Panlipunan) and shapes.

III. Learning Procedure:

A. Preparatory Activity
1. Routines
 Prayer

 Greetings

 Checking of Attendance

 Setting of Standards

2.Drill
 Introduce the “Show Me Board” game and divide the class according to their rows.
 The teacher will show flash cards that contains problems which they are going to solve.
 The first group to show their board with the correct answer will receive a smiley face 
that is equivalent to 5 points and a sad face  to those noisy groups which means a
deduction of 3 points.

3. Review
 Ask the class about the previous lesson about the Area of Parallelogram and what they
learn in the previous lesson.

4. Motivation
 Introduce the “Connect Me” game. The class will be group into 3. The teacher will read
the clues and the group will try to connect the dots to identify the figure.

Clues:

1. I symbolize our nation or country.

2. You can pay respect to me whenever you hear or see
me.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
 What figures or shapes can you see at the flag?
 What figure in the flag that has three sides?
2. Analysis
 Going back to the past lesson the class will be ask what figure is shown by the teacher.
 What if the parallelogram will be cut diagonally? What figure is being shown?

3. Abstraction
 Introduce the formula in getting the area of triangle.
 A=1/2 x bh or A= b x h .
2
 Give examples in getting the area of the Triangle.
3. Application
 With the same group, the class will answer another activity .
 Each group will be given 5 min to answer. The group should choose a leader to paste
their answer on the board. The group with the correct answer in each item will receive a
heart shape which is equivalent to 5 points and a triangle shape for those
minimal errors which is equivalent to 3 points.
