SUBJECT ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY – SEMESTER I (2020-21)
Class: IX
Subject: English
Activity Description: Story Telling (using props)
 Students write a short story with a moral (Refer to the lessons- The Legend of the
Northland, In the Kingdom of Fools and The Happy Prince)
 Students are also required to make an innovative prop for their story like a simple
mask or a puppet etc.
 Students will present it in the form of an audio clip/ video of their self-composed
story.
 Also, students must send a picture of their props (in the making as well as the final
prop)
Learning Outcome:
 Learning to compose a story with a moral
 Understanding the art of telling a story in innovative ways (using both audio –video
techniques)
Elements adopted from alternative planner:
 Students try to incorporate fun ways to compose and narrate a simple and basic story.
 They enhance their writing and speaking skills in an interesting and creative way
through art.

IDEAS for PROPS

Finger puppets

Simple rolled up paper and a pen/ sketch pen

Human faces/ animal faces

Ice- cream stick puppets (could be any other stick too!)

Use the cut out of a plastic bottle cap as head- stick paper or cloth cut out for body/ dress
Puppets or Masks with paper bags or even Boxes (think out of the box! )

Use any other material which you otherwise would just trash! (Saves environment too!)

Even a simple old carry bag makes a fun face mask- just add a few colours and done!
You can try showing a particular emotion especially with flat characters
