Learning Task 2: Writing a Reaction Paper

Use your outline in writing your Reaction Paper. Use the given template for your guide.

REACTION PAPER TEMPLATE

Introduction

You should always start your reaction paper with an introduction. It consists of the summary
and the main questions you are going to discuss along the way. A perfect size of this section
is three to four sentences. Don’t forget to provide all details about the author, title and main
characters. Your introductory section should end with a thesis statement, which provides the
main goal of the work and needs to be supported in your body paragraphs.

Body

• Body paragraphs should contain your reaction on the material, whether it is a book, a
movie or a TV show. You should not only explain your reaction but also back it with
quotes from the sources. Analyze them and avoid being too subjective. Of course, you
have your own reasons and a personal opinion but it is necessary to back everything
with proofs and links.

• In addition, you can write several paragraphs with other reactions. You can use such
phrases as ‘I think’, ‘I believe’ and so on.

Conclusion

Your conclusion should support a thesis statement and express your predictions for the
future. It may include influence of the book or movie on the sphere, your class or target
audience. You can give your overall rating of the event.

Fuuls Concert
Reaction Paper

I attended Fuuls concert on Wed, 1st at Zara Expo. It was a concert of folk, alternative, and rock
music. The band consists of three family members, the father; Nate, the mother; Eden, and their 15 year-
old son; Julias. They are currently living in Cairo; they have been living there for 20 years. It was in Cairo
that they launched their band: Fuuls.

The concert was amazingly entertaining. I liked the way the band connects with the audience. They
don’t only play their music and leave, but they add a sense of humor and interact with the audience.
Throughout the concert they expressed the way they felt about living in an Arab country and apparently,
they love it. They seem to like the culture, the food, and the business of Cairo city. Fuuls arrived in Jordan
on Monday 29th, as a part of a tour that included three Jordanian cities. They expressed their amazement
at the hospitality of the Jordanian people and said that they were in love with Jordanian food. They played
many songs of different genres for many artists such as, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, and David Bowie.
One of my favorite songs of which they played was “Knocking on Heavens Door” by Bob Dylan. The band
is really talented, Nate plays the Saxophone, Eden is the lead guitarist, and Julias is the base guitarist. To
add to it all, they can all sing beautifully. It was hilarious to see a pink ukulele on stage, and Julias
seemed to be a bit embarrassed, at first to play with it. However, and once he started playing and singing
along, the color of the ukulele was no longer a problem. On the other hand, Eden used a shaker in a
couple of songs to keep the beat; it was interesting to see an egg shaker on stage. I never knew that
shakers were considered an instrument. They require quite some talent to know how to use them, and
create a rhythm to music. The egg shaker made quite a difference to the beat of a song. At the end of the
concert, Fuuls were accompanied by a couple of Jordanian artists including Aziz Maraka on the keyboard,
Avo Demerjian on the bouzouki, Yaarob Smeirat on the violin, and Mohammad Jaber on the percussions.
They performed a couple of songs together, bringing to the stage a mixed flavor of both East and West
music.

All in all, it was a great concert. Fuuls are a great band; they are talented and very funny. It is nice to
see a family that is brought together by music. I could see how much they love playing their instruments.
Fuuls are passionate about their music, and that’s what makes them great.
