My Dream Career

Ultrasound Technician also referred to as a sonographer, “uses imaging equipment and

soundwaves to form images of many parts of the body, known as ultrasounds. They are trained

to acquire and analyze these sonographic images. These images are used to help doctors

diagnose and treat many medical conditions.” Says the Salary by Mayo clinic on education. I

chose to explore being a Sonographer because it can be a great way to start a career. It makes a

good annual salary, it can be an easy way to start, and ultrasounding for pregnant ladies to me

is a pretty cycle of life and I think it's something that would make me happy.

In order to enter this and have a good salary, you must have an associate degree of 2 years. For

a bigger salary you must have a bachelor's or above says the article of nursing process. It's

recommended by Concorde to take online classes. This career is not at entry level because it

requires years of school. At least 2 years of practice to have an entry. When you study you learn

“Operating imaging equipment, and reviewing images to be sure they are good quality and

helpful.” “Identifying normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the
results to physicians or other health professionals” also on “preparing patients for procedures."

says the mayo clinic. The schools recommended in California based on the webpage “Best

Ultrasound Technician- Schools in California- 2023” by “Nursing Process” Say that Cypress

College is well recommended since it is “one of the best community colleges in the Golden

State” and offer many certificate programs for associates. There are many more other Schools

but this one stuck out to me the most.

This career impacts others in society in a positive way because it helps examine the body and

make sure everything is well. It also helps diagnose people with certain things and this will help

you cure whatever sickness you have and help you live longer. For example, Mayo clinic says,

“Medical Sonographers, therefore, have an important role in conducting and interpreting initial

imaging tests that may help narrow down a patient's diagnosis and quickly get them, the care

they need.” This states that this career helps people live a longer and healthier life. This relates

to the 1 pillar of Dual Language because many people all over the world have ultrasounds and

communicate in their own languages.

I imagine my life as an Ultrasound Technician to be a bit busy and hectic since I must be

constantly focusing on my patient's health progress. A day in the life of a Sonographer is going

to the clinic, making sure your stuff is prepared and then examining their patient, then once the

patient's appointment is over the Sonographer properly examines everything and makes sure
everything is okay. The job may require a bit of study, but it all ends up being worth it. The

yearly salary for this job in California is stated in a website named Salary.com it says “The

average Ultrasound Technologist salary in California is $88,833 as of February 27, 2023, but

the range typically falls between $77,886 and $99,319. Salary ranges can vary widely

depending on the city and many other important factors.” For example, the years you study

in school depend on how high you will be getting paid. The most desirable part of this job is

how this job doesn’t require much but a lot of visual knowledge. For pregnancy ultrasounds

are very desirable because you get to see a beautiful family grow and you get to help out with

that. On the other hand, the job does have difficult areas for example, a website by “explore

medical careers” says having to tell someone they are diagnosed with something “(high

responsibility), being busy most of the daytime and sometimes working overtime.” This job

may impact the desirable life I have in mind but knowing that I'm making a positive impact on

my community and possibly saving lives makes this job feel worth it.

Being an Ultrasound Technician is something I look forward to doing. This career has its pros

and cons but once I start studying it will all start to feel worth it. One thing I look forward to

the most is how the job is not as complecated and it gives you a really good salary. I also think

it’s a great way to start off my career and it also has a positive impact on society.
