Class, what do you call this?
(Present a dice to the class)
Yes, it is the board but, now, this is not just a normal board. You see this is a special
board, this is a fitness and fun game board.
Yes, you heard it right, class we are going to have a game. A physical fitness game.
While we have to have fun, you are also going to exercise. We will target and enhance
several of your physical fitness components.
Today we will have a recreational activity. We have already tackled recreation. Physical
fitness components, you should have been familiar with since Grade 7.
So here is what is going to happen. We are going to play a modified snake and ladder.
You see these tiles right here, they are labeled with the exercises that were just
demonstrated. Now a leader will come and roll their own dice. We have 20 tiles,
whichever group finishes up early would have a perfect scores. The following groups
would receive 19, 18, 17 and 16.
Is everything clear? Very well, let’s continue.
B. Application
Each team is placed at least 1 meters away from the table board. Leaders would gather
at the table, roll their dice, mark their tiles and run back to their own respective teams to
accomplish the exercise. Roll their dice and back and again until they reach the last
final file.
Teacher set the trial game.
Teacher blows the whistle and signals the start of game.
Determine the result and lead the cool down.
C. Analysis
What are the physical fitness components that you perform during the game?
As we play the modified snake and ladder, it is one of example of recreational activities.
So what do we mean when we say recreational activity?
So what other recreational activities did you play?
In our game what physical fitness components did you perform more?
D. Abstraction
Group leaders, kindly write your group number and the names of your group mates on
¼ sheet of paper. As promised, our winner get 20 pts, and the following groups their
respective scores.
Which among the exercises that we did today develops strength? Endurance?
Flexibility?
How did you find our recreational activity for today? Did you have fun?
Which exercise did you find yourself performing with difficulty?
3. Evaluation
Ok, so with that let’s do a put a finger down experiment. Raise your right hand, palms at
the level of your face. Answer or put your finger honestly.
1. Put a finger down if you had difficulty in performing 6 or more of the exercises.
2. Put a finger down if you had difficulty performing 3 or less of the exercises.
3. Put a finger down if you find it difficult to collaborate with you group mates.
4. Put a finger down if you did not find our activity fun at all.
5. Put a finger down if you think that you find yourself lacking in your physical fitness.
Ok, now look at your hands. If you still have your four or five fingers up, then very good.
You are physically active and fit.
However if you have a fist or 1 or 2 fingers remaining you have to exercise more and
develop your communication skills with your classmates.
