A. Preliminary Activity
1. Review/drill: Game on the following directions: Simon Says
Direction: The teacher will ask a volunteer leader to give directions. The rest of the pupils will follow
what the leader will say. The pupil who can follow the directions correctly will get the point.

Examples:
 Simon says, raise your right foot.
 Simon says, touch your left ear with your right hand.
 Simon says put your hands behind your back.
 Simon says act like a monkey.
 Simon says bite your lip!Simon says hug yourself.

2. Motivation:
Direction: Study the map and answer the questions that follow. Write your answer in a separate sheet.

turn right. There you can see the house, Carlo.
C. First, walk straight to the Mini Mart. Next, turn right and enter Rosas Drive and stop at the
health center. Then walk past Mica's house and enter Sampaguita Drive. Finally, walk straight
and then turn left. There you can see the home of Carlo.
D. First, walk straight until you find the Lilac Drive. Then stop at Henry's home and turn left.
Next is go directly, then turn right. There you will see Carlo's home.

How to Cook Rice

Rice is the staple food in almost any home. It has been eaten around the world since the
beginning of time. Eating rice is common among Filipinos because it is also easy to cook.
Follow these simple steps in cooking rice. First, you need to measure the amount of rice you
will be cooking. Second, rinse it with water and remove the water thoroughly. Then, put the
appropriate amount of water again. Lastly, put the pot on a lit stove to cook.

2. Discussion of new concept:

Directions tell someone how to do something or in which the order to do something. It serves as a
guide for the readers or listeners to achieve his goal successfully. Reading all the directions before

doing something is highly recommended. Directions may be given when doing something, how to
find places, how to use objects or things, and how to make simple things.

Writing directions using signal words helps the reader to clearly understand and follow the given
instruction. Writing clear directions can help avoid accidents and
problems along the way

Here are TIPS in giving simple directions!

1) Use clear and specific commands.
2) Use action word after the sequence signal.
3) Give one instruction at a time.
4) Don’t omit steps or take short cuts.
5) Read and follow instructions correctly.

Sunny side-up egg is one of the favorite foods of the Filipinos. It can be eaten during
breakfast, lunch, and even dinner. Some cook it a bit raw where the egg yolk is still
gooey, while others want it to be well-cooked. How do you like it to be cooked?
