How can workplaces be made more people-friendly?

 Light and ventilation

 Exercise and breaks
 Decoration

In this day and age, many people complain that workplaces are not healthy places to
be everyday. They are not that striking at first glance, affecting negatively on workers.
From uncomfortable chairs that cause poor posture to insufficiently lighted offices that
prevent workers from watching the computer screen properly. In this essay, I intend to
discuss how workplaces can be made more people-friendly.

Firstly, lighting and ventilation play a vital role in workers' performance and attitude.
Exposure to natural light improves mood, energy and mental health, greatly impacting
focus and productivity. However, most office workers have little to no natural light. If it
is not possible to incorporate natural lighting through windows, there are other
options. Blue-enriched light bulbs may reduce fatigue and increase happiness and work
performance. In addition, a good ventilation system, which should have cool and heat
options, would make a great impact on workers productivity.

Secondly, not only lighting and ventilation are of great importance, but also decoration
has an important role in making workplaces more people-friendly. It is claimed that
adding plants in offices creates a nicer and cozier workplace. It also helps by giving
some color to the normally white environment. Adding some colors, whether it is with
paintings or colorful walls and floors can improve the workers’ happiness and
performance.

In light of the above, what is of greater importance is a proper lighting system since it
is what may interfere more with people’s focus and mood. However, companies
should not forget to create a more lively environment to help workers not to feel
locked in their office.
