I. ADMINISTRATION
The College of Criminal Justice Education should be a distinct
and separate college
1. DEAN
A. Must be full-time
B. Doctoral Degree in Criminology or other allied courses
such as Psychology, Sociology, Law, Public Safety, National
Security Administration, Correctional Administration and
Police Administration.
C. At least (5) years teaching experience at tertiary level;
D. At least three (3) years administrative and 1-year
supervisory experience.
E. In case the college of Criminal Justice has only a
Criminology Department, the dean may serve as
Department Head in concurrent capacity
F. Teaching load does not exceed twelve (12) units per
term/semester
2. DEPARTMENT HEAD, CRIMINOLOGY DEP’T.
A. Must be full-time
B. Must be a graduate B.S. Criminology
C. At least M.S. Criminology with credentials duly
authenticated by the Commission (CHED) or as maybe
allowed by the rules,
D. A registered Criminologist;
E. At least three (3) years teaching and one (1) year
supervisory experience.
II. FACULTY
A. General Education should be taught by faculty with
appropriate master’s degree.
B. Professional subjects
1. Faculty members teaching professional courses shall be
holders of at least Master’s and baccalaureate degrees
in Criminology and other related degrees;
2. registered professionals; with credentials duly
authenticated by the Commission (CHED) or as maybe
allowed by the rules,
3. practitioners for a least three (3) years preferable with
at least one (1) year teaching experience.
4. Faculty members in technical fields of Forensics such as
Questioned Documents, Forensic Photography and
Personal Identification shall have at least two (2) years’
experience and/ or related training in said fields
5. At least 50% of the professional courses offered should
be taught by full-time faculty members;
6. Faculty members shall be encouraged by the school to
undertake research and other related development
activities for purpose of professional growth;
7. For effective instruction in laboratory courses, it is
suggested that the ratio of technical instructor to
students should not be more than one is to (1:40).
C. Faculty Loading
1. Full-time
Maximum total load of 24 units per term. In
meritorious cases, an overload of three (30 units
may be allowed. In all cases a maximum load of 27
units (covers all teaching assignments in all schools
the faculty is connected with should be observed.
Formal notice of teaching assignment in all schools
concerned if teaching in more than one schools.

2. Part-time including government employees


Nine (9) units per week but not more than 12 units,
subject to government approval.
Full-time faculty members undertaking research
must be deloaded.
D. Assignments
Faculty teaches courses only in their field of
specialization;
E. Preparation
Not more than four (4) preparations in any one term.
F. Presence of Ranking and Evaluation system (Instructor,
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor)
The Probationary employment for full-time faculty who
are academically qualified should be for a period of not
more than three (3) years. Faculty who have
successfully passed this probationary period should be
made permanent. Faculty members who do not meet
minimum standards of competence and performance, or
who are found guilty of unprofessional conduct or of
violating school regulations should be separated from
service.

I. Adequate support and service personnel to assist faculty.
HEIs should publish a faculty manual for formalizing faculty
policies and standards. Regular full-time faculty are required
to conduct at least one (1) scholarly research work every
academic year. Schools are encouraged to enter into
consortium arrangement and share facilities and personnel
with other schools in the locality/region giving rise to
international networks of schools working together.

program outcomes for the BS Criminology program.
E. Periodical Collection
In addition to reference books, the library shall
maintain a regular annual subscription to at least two
(2) international and two (2) local appropriate
publication such as Journals and Bibliographies. The
school is encouraged to subscribe to Magazines,
Newspapers, Monographs and other periodicals.
The school shall make provisions for the gradual
acquisition of back issues of professional publication.
F. Library Space should accommodate at least five
percent (15%) of the total enrolment at any one time.
