INSECT
Biodiversity
Includes the variety of ecosystems
which includes community of organisms
within particular habitats and the
physical conditions under which they
live
POPULATION
Is all the organisms
that both belong to
the same species
and live in the same
geographical area
Community
is an assemblage of
two or more
populations of
different species
occupying the same
geographical area.
Major Insect
orders
Coleoptera
are the most
succesful order of
insects when it comes
to number of species.
beetles are the ones
who represent the
coleoptera.
Lepidoptera

Orthoptera

and prevent them from causing
economic damage.
What is a pest?
an insect or small animal that
is harmful or damages crops:
common pests such as rats,
mice, or cockroaches.
Different
types of
Traps
For ground dwelling insects
Pitfall trap
For flying insects
Pan trap and interception traps
For grassland insects
Sweep net
Enrichment activity
Determine if the image
shown is a beneficial or
harmful insect.
