Your school is preparing for a school trip to the pyramids of Giza. You are going to perform
some ICT tasks for this purpose.

Task 1
You are going to create a poster for the school trip.
Use a suitable software package to complete the following tasks.

1 Create a poster in A4 size. The orientation of the poster will be landscape.

2 On the poster include:


 ‘Pyramids.jpg’ photo from the Support files folder on the Desktop.
 the title A school trip to the pyramids of Giza under the photo.

3 Save the completed poster with the name ‘Poster – <Your name>’ in the Support files folder.

Task 2
You are a member of a team that are developing a game called The Pyramid Maze. Other
programmers on your team have started the game and you have been asked to complete it.

4 Open the file The Pyramid Maze.sb from your Support files folder. Save your file as
‘My game – <Your name>’ in the Support files folder.

You need to add the following features to the game:

5 Use the arrow keys to control the movement of the mummy sprite.
[2]

6 Create a variable, called Timer (The timer should be displayed on the screen), which has
the following features:
 The starting value is 30 seconds.
 The timer is reduced by 1 each second until it reaches zero then the game will stop.

7 When the mummy touches the pyramid, it will say ‘I win!’ and stop the game.
[2]

Save the changes you have just made.

Task 3
You are going to create and edit a presentation about the school trip to the pyramids of
Giza.
Use a suitable software package to complete the following task.

Set up a new presentation consisting of 4 slides.

8 On the master slide, set the following styles of text throughout the entire presentation:
 Slide Heading: Times New Roman font, dark red, centre aligned, bold, underlined and
set to 48 point.
 Bullet points: Arial font, black, left aligned bold, italic and set to 36 point.

9 On the master slide for the entire presentation:


 Set the background to light grey [1]
 Set the colour transparency to 30% [1]
 Enter your name and candidate number in the bottom left corner
 Enter your school name in the bottom right corner
 Enter the NES Logo.PNG from the Support files folder in the top right corner. The
logo should be resized to an appropriate size. [4]

Close the master slide view.

10 On the first slide:


 enter the title ‘School Trip’.
 enter the subtitle ‘The Pyramids of Giza’.
The subtitle must be on one line. [2]

11 On the second slide:


 enter the heading ‘The three pyramids of Giza’.
 insert the information contained in the file ‘Information 1. docx' from your Support
files folder as body text. [2]

12 On the third slide:


 enter the heading ‘What are the names of the three great pyramids of Giza?’.
 enter the following as a numbered list below the heading:
The Pyramid of Menkaure
The Pyramid of Khafre
The Great Pyramid of Khufu [3]

13 Set each element in the list to appear one at a time when clicked in sequence using the
same animation effect. No other elements of the slide should be animated.

14 On the fourth slide:
 enter the heading ‘Contact us’.
 insert the information contained in the file ‘Information 2.docx’ from your Support
files folder as body text.
 Add a hyperlink to the word ‘website’ to open the website
https://www.facebook.com/nesofficial1 when it is clicked.

15 For the whole presentation:


 Check that there are no overlapping texts or images.
 Add a transitional effect between each slide. Use the same effect for each slide.
 Set the presentation so each slide remains on screen for 2 seconds.
 Spell-check the presentation, correct any errors.

16 Save your file as ‘My presentation – <Your name>’ in the Support files folder

Task 4
You need to email the game, the poster and presentation to the social studies department in
your school.

17 The email message:


 needs to be sent to the email address social.studies.teacher1.nes@gmail.com
 needs to send a copy to the email address social.studies.teacher2.nes @gmail.com
 needs to be sent a blind carbon copy to the email address
social.studies.hod.nes@gmail.com
 with the subject line ‘The school trip to the three pyramids of Giza’

The body text of the message should include:

 your school name


 your name and candidate number
 the text:
‘Here are the poster, game and the presentation you requested’
Take a screenshot of this email and save it in the Support files folder on the Desktop
with the name ‘Mail - <Your Name>’.

18 From your Support files folder, attach the files ‘poster – Your name.png’, ‘My game –
Your name.sb’ and ‘My presentation – Your name.ppt’ to the email
Take a screenshot of this email, showing clearly that the attachments are present, and
save it in the Support files folder on the Desktop with the name ‘Attachment - <Your
Name>’.
