How to motivate students to learn English

Introduction :
Good afternoon everyone. My name is Sophiae Salsabila and the last 3 digits of my student's
ID number is 033. Today, I would like to present a topic I’m interested in which is How to
motivate students to learn English. As we all know, students learn more efficiently If they
have the motivation to do it. For instance, when students are motivated when studying
English, they become more active and eager to learn in class. Hence why students need to be
motivated, and there are several ways to motivate students in learning English.
Body :
First, you need to use various interesting activities when teaching English. For example,
activities such as games, role play, and many other activities that are fun and interesting. It
will pique the student’s interest and motivate them to eagerly learn the English language.
Furthermore, Well-chosen games will give students a break and at the same time allow
students to practice language skills. Games are very motivating for students since they are
challenging and amusing at the same time. Furthermore, these activities will also be useful
since it uses real contexts and encourage the students to cooperate. Second, you need to
involve new and effective techniques. The world around us keeps changing so we also need
to adapt and use different techniques when teaching the English language. For instance, in
today’s modern world, people use technology, and we can use this to our advantage and use
various methods such as using multimedia, using the Internet, and educational software. For
example, we can use a website like wordwall to create simple games to teach English. These
methods are creative and effective since they can help students to develop curiosity and
interest so that they have intrinsic motivation. When they have intrinsic motivation, many
students will start self-study at their home and this will effectively improve their language
skills such as listening, reading, and writing. Third, you need to create a relaxed and positive
learning environment. For example, if students learn in a friendly atmosphere, they can feel
secure and motivated. Learning English needs a lot of practice, especially in speaking. It is
very important to not make the students anxious because they might not want to practice if
someone criticizes or laughs at them when they make a mistake. In addition, the teacher
should give encouraging words and warm comments, for example “You did a good job, if you
can correct this pronunciation, you will be able to improve a lot.” With a positive vibe in the
class, teachers can have more communication with the students and be closer to them and
make them feel encouraged in learning English.
Conclusion :
As everyone knows, motivation is very important for students. In conclusion, It will make
them learn English more efficiently and raise their interest so that they can learn English on
their own in their free time. That is why, we should try and find ways to motivate the students
