1.0 Scope:
This method statement details the method and sequence for execution of all aspects of Formwork,
steel reinforcement, concrete placing and curing for all concrete works.
2.0 Purpose:
Execution of all concrete elements Concrete methodology.
3.0 References:
• Project Specification–Cast in place concrete.
• Approved shop drawings.
• All related Documents.

4.0 Responsibilities:
4.1. Project Manager:
• Monitoring all project activities regarding to project schedule.

4.2. Construction manager:


• Assigning areas of responsibilities of site engineer.
• Expending areas of concern to best achieve project schedule.
• Coordinate with technical office manager to ensure timely availability and approval of
materials, method statement, and shop drawings.
• Liaison with technical office manager for advice required regarding changes, missing
information, clarification.

4.3. Technical office Manager:


• Technical and engineering issue management.
• Ensure that the site uses the latest shop drawing issue for construction.

4.4. Site Engineer:


• Assigning areas of responsibilities to supervisors, foreman and subcontractors.
• Continuous monitoring of all aspects of works progression, (surveying, safety barriers
installation, etc.) and overseeing the performance of casting in accordance with
prescribed method and products.
• Inspection of all aspects of the casting works.
• Liaising with QC Engineer regarding work progression and availability of hold point
inspections.

4.5. QC Engineer:
• Shall report to the QA/QC Manager.
• Ensuring that the project inspection test plan(s) (ITP) has been briefed to and is then
followed by the construction team.
• Hold point Inspection for cast-in-place concrete.
• Inspect all the material delivered to the site with approval inspection.
• Coordinate with the third-party laboratory for all test for fresh and hard concrete
samples.

4.6. Laboratory Technician:


• Sampling of soil as applicable for the soil replacement before casting the blinding
concrete.
• Testing of the fresh concrete slump, temperature and workability.
• Monitoring the casting and take samples of concrete for testing.
• Testing hard cubes according to standers and reporting of results.

4.7. Safety Officer:


Shall be responsible to ensure that all site activities are carried out in full compliance with
the attached risk assessment, the HSE plan and current best safety practice.
Safety supervisor should be present full time at work location.
4.8. Lifting Team:
Undergone Lifting supervisor, crane operator and riggers safety course and possess valid
certificate. Co-ordinate all lifting activities and supervise all lifting operation by any lifting
equipment in accordance with the lifting procedure and brief all operators, riggers and
signalmen on the lifting procedure. Ensure that only registered crane operators, appointed
riggers and signal men participate in any lifting operation involving the use of any lifting
equipment. Ensure that the ground conditions are safe for any lifting operation to be
performed by any crane. Shall follow instruction to ensure that works are carried out
properlyand safely.
4.9. Supervisors, Foremen and Subcontractor(s):
Shall report to the Site Engineer, shall be responsible for the day-to-day planning and
supervise the works to ensure that these are carried out in full compliance with the
Method statement, the HSE plan and current best safety practice.
4.10. Fitters and welders:
Shall report to the Supervisor, to do fit up work under the supervision of
Foremen/Supervisor and edge preparation for pipes and fittings as per drawing
requirements. Maintaining welding requirements such as root gap as per WPS and
checking the welding requirements according to WPS, and follow accordingly.to do proper
grinding work without slag and under cuts and welding operation according to WPS.

5.0 Methodology:
5.1. Pre-works:
• Excavation till reach the bottom level of the replacement soil under foundation as
required in project specification, drawings and geotechnical Report Recommendation.
• All surrounding facilities shall be protected before excavation activity starts.
• Submerge bottom level of excavated area for 24 hours as geotechnical report
recommendation.
• Conduct Plate Bearing Test as required in the project specification.
• Place the replacement soil layer by layer with approved compaction tests by the
engineer.
• After reach the foundation level submit surface preparation for the soil deformation
according to the approved shop drawing.

5.2. Blinding Concrete:


• Concrete grade shall be: C175 type V.
• Thickness as indicated in the approved shop drawings.
• Formwork and leveling Inspection Request (IR) to be submitted for approval.
• Quality team to establish the concrete check points for concrete tests.
• Standard Cylinders shall be sampled for hardened concrete testing as standards
requirements.
• Deliver concrete at site as indicated in project specs grade in proper rate
• Vibrators will be used to avoid any concrete defects*.
• Concrete shall be continuously placed in regularly homogeneous formation.
• Placed concrete shall be compacted manually to avoid any voids.
• Surveyors shall monitor Concrete level.
• Surface shall be trowel finished by the proper tool(s).
• Repair team will be standby in case of defect occurred to repair any defects.

5.3. “Foundation” Formwork, steel reinforcement and concrete placing activities


• Survey should mark formwork corners and columns, walls, pedestals and any
embedded item location.
• Design, install, shore, brace, and maintain formwork, to support vertical, lateral, static,
and dynamic loads, and construction loads that might be applied, until concrete
structure can support such loads.
• Handle, Install steel reinforcement as approved shop drawing.
• In case of using water stop, the approved material will be Installed straight, tight and
welded in proper leveling in the required place as indicated in the approved shop
drawings.
• Complete formwork activity finalizes adjustment of alignment, verticality, opening
location and level(s).
• Final inspection for all activity will be as approved ITP’s.

• Deliver concrete at site as indicated in project specs grade: C350 with cement type II in
proper rate. And it will be placed in layers. Vibrators will be used to avoid any concrete
defects*.
• Top of Concrete (TOC) will be monitored by surveying team.
• Surface shall be fair face finish by using helicopter troweling.
• Construct formwork so concrete members and structures are of size, shape and
alignment.
• Curing shall be applied by the approved curing compound after finishing concrete
pouring as per manufacturer’s requirements
• In case of defect occurred, Repair team will be standby to repair and concrete defects
using the approved materials.
• Quality team to establish the concrete loads check points, and all QC activities shall be
carried out according to the approved ITP.
• Standard Cylinders shall be sampled for hardened concrete testing as standards
requirements.
• Vertical water stop will be allocated and installed as the project specification in the
construction joint and will be welded with the horizontal water stop, ensure that the
overlap between the vertical and horizontal water stop about 100 mm by using welding
machine.
*Castingoperation for all the raft with one pump L 42m or any available suitable length in charge of casting
and second pump as standby if required.

5.4. “Vertical Elements” Formwork, steel reinforcement and concrete pouring:


• Survey should mark axes or a proper offset(s) axis and levels for vertical elements,
opening’s location. and also, any embedded items.
• A proper Formwork system will be used.
• Install, shore, brace, and maintain formwork, to support vertical, lateral, static, and
dynamic loads, and construction loads that might be applied, until concrete structure
can support such loads.
• Handle, Install steel reinforcement as approved shop drawing.
• Concrete cover thickness as indicated in the approved shop drawings using concrete or
PVC wheel spacers.
• Chamfer exterior edges of concrete as indicated in drawings.
• Provide temporary openings for cleanouts and inspection ports where interior area of
formwork is inaccessible. Close openings with panels tightly fitted to forms and securely
braced to prevent loss of concrete mortar. Locate temporary openings in forms at
inconspicuous locations as possible.
• Complete formwork activity finalizes adjustment of concrete dimension, alignment,
verticality, opening location and level(s) as indicated in approved shop drawings.
• In case of need construction joints, locations shall generally be located as shown on
shop drawings or Field sketches, however, where significant adjustment is required,
these shall be detailed on as-built drawings.
• Final inspection for all activity will be as approved ITP’s.
• Deliver concrete at site as indicated in project specs grade: C350 with Cement Type II in
proper rate.
• Concrete shall be continuously placed in layers and compacted by concrete vibrators.
• Surveyors shall monitor concrete top level.
• Quality team to establish the concrete check points, and all QC activities shall be
carried out according to the approved ITP.
• Curing shall be by using the approved curing compound.
• Repair team will be ready after concrete is poured to repair and concrete defects, if any
using the approved materials.
• Treatment for voids at location of tie rod using adequate grout after dismantle
shuttering form work.

5.5. “Roof Slab” Formwork, steel reinforcement and concrete pouring.


• Survey should mark level, axes and/or proper offset(s) for beam, slabs, walls, columns,
openings and any embedded items prior to start formwork activity.
• Thickness as indicated in the approved shop drawings.
• A proper Formwork system will be used.
• Install, shore, brace, and maintain formwork, to support vertical, lateral, static, and
dynamic loads, and construction loads that might be applied, until concrete structure
can support such loads.
• Provide temporary openings for cleanouts and inspection ports where interior area of
formwork is inaccessible. Close openings with panels tightly fitted to forms and securely
braced to prevent loss of concrete mortar, locate temporary openings in forms at
inconspicuous locations as possible.
• Chamfer exterior edges of concrete as indicated in drawings.
• Handle, Install steel reinforcement as approved shop drawing.
• Cover spacers with relevant dimension as indicated in the approved shop drawings will
be used.
• Complete formwork activity finalizes adjustment of concrete dimension, alignment,
verticality, opening location and level(s) as indicated in approved shop drawings.
• Final inspection for all activity will be as approved ITP’s.
• Deliver concrete at site as indicated in project specs grade: C350 with Cement Type II in
proper rate.
• Concrete shall be continuously placed in layers and compacted by concrete vibrators to
avoid any concrete defects.
• Surveyors shall monitor concrete top level.
• Quality team to establish the concrete check points, and all QC activities shall be
carried out according to the approved ITP.
• Curing shall be by using the approved curing compound.

8.0 Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements


In accordance with the Subcontract provisions and specifications, all the HSE
requirements are to be followed.
• All relevant personal protection equipment (PPE) shall be provided to all
personnel involved in the works and wearing of PPE shall be enforced by the team
as a whole All site personal shall wear the following PPE at all times:

▪ Safety boots.
▪ Safety helmets.
▪ High visibility Vest.

• Utilities shall be clearly marked and identified. Signboards identifying the type
of utilities shall be displayed at the relevant locations indicating limits of their
limits.
• Only allowed persons are permitted into the work zone. The barricades shall
be kept interlocked and continues at all the times. Any accident shall be promptly
reported to the safety department for further investigations and action.
• Barrier shall be added for the excavated borders.
• Caution tape shall be provided to all excavated area.
• Housekeeping and removing any unrequired materials to be ensured all the
time.
