Guidelines for Article Critiques

Select two articles, every articles:

Part I: (5 points) Article selection and full citation for article (APA style):

Select article related to research topic published in a journal within the last five years. The
article must have a designated author(s) and references. The article must be attach with the
report.

Part II: (10 points) Synopsis of article (3-5 paragraphs):

The synopsis (for each article) is a three to five paragraph, arranged in a logical sequence. Avoid
direct quotations; instead, restate the information using your own words to demonstrate
understanding of the content of the article. Avoid plagiarism. The synopsis should include your
personal opinions. The synopsis should be typed (double spaced).

Part III: (15 points) Overview analysis of article:

The overview analysis of the article evaluates basic features of the article to assess its general
credibility—beginning with (A) the organizational structure, (B) the credentials of the author(s),
and (C) the suitability of citations and references in order to determine if the article offers a
reliable and professional presentation of information. The overview should address each feature
separately, be typed (double spaced).

Part IV: (20 points) Critical analysis of the article:

Next, the article is further scrutinized through critical analysis, and,
the personal reflection: discuss your views on the topics addressed in the article as well as how
you might apply any of your newly gained awareness or knowledge.
Note: This section of the assignment is worth the most points. Evaluation is not based on well the
article’s author(s) write, but on how well you rationalize your critical analysis

 Proposal that is found to have elements of plagiarism will be rejected.
