(TASK 12−00−00−867−801).
WARNING: OBEY ALL HYDRAULIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS. YOU CAN
CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
D. Before the aircraft will be towed, make sure you have the towing crew that follows:
– One person to operate the aircraft brakes and navigation lights from the flight compartment
– One person on the left wing−tip and one person on the right wing−tip to monitor sufficient
clearance during the turns
– One person behind the tail to monitor sufficient clearance during the turns.
NOTE: The towing supervisor is in control of the towing operation and must have visual and
radio communication with all the members of the towing crew at all times. Light wands
can be used to give signals in low visibility.
(a) Make sure that the nose wheel steering system is off.
(b) Make sure that the landing gear selector−handle is in the DOWN position.
(2) Make sure that all ground equipment is removed from areas adjacent to the aircraft.
(3) Make sure that all external services are disconnected from the aircraft.
(4) Make sure that the grounding wire is disconnected from the aircraft.
(5) Make sure that the passenger door is closed. If the passenger door is to stay open, install
the door support cable.
(6) Make sure that the MLG shock absorbers are not fully compressed and that sufficient
chrome section is seen on the shock absorbers before you tow the aircraft.
(7) Make sure that the NLG shock absorber exposed chrome dimensions is within the minimum
and maximum limit. Refer to the Table 201. If necessary, do the extension check of the NLG
shock strut (TASK 12−12−32−820−802).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WHEN YOU TOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE TORQUE LINKS DISCONNECTED,
OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW:
– DO NOT APPLY MORE THAN 45000 LBF.IN (5084 N.M) OF TORQUE ALONG
THE SHOCK STRUT AXIS.
– DO NOT APPLY LOADS OF MORE THAN 6400 LBF (28469 N) PARALLEL TO
THE GROUND.
– MAKE SURE THAT THE SHOCK STRUT IS CORRECTLY CHARGED BEFORE
YOU DISCONNECT THE TORQUE LINKS.
– MAKE SURE THAT THE TORQUE LINKS OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR ARE
DISCONNECTED.
– DO NOT TOW AT MORE THAN 15MPH (24 KM/H).
– DO NOT PUSH REARWARD AT MORE THAN 3 MPH (5KM/H).
– DO NOT USE THE AIRCRAFT BRAKES TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT UNLESS
THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.
– KEEP THE TURNS AS LARGE AS POSSIBLE.
– MAKE ALL CHANGES TO THE SPEED OR THE DIRECTION SLOWLY.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOAD ON THE NOSEWHEEL IS NOT LESS THAN 2000 LB
(907 KG) AND NOT MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM LIMIT GIVEN BY THE CG
ENVELOPE. IF NECESSARY, MAKE A BALLAST OR FUEL ADJUSTMENT TO GET
THE CORRECT LOAD. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY, YOU CAN DISCONNECT OR
DAMAGE THE STEERING MECHANISM, AND/OR CAUSE THE AIRCRAFT TO TIP
OVER.
NOTE: For more safety when the aircraft center of gravity is near the aft limit, you can install a
ballast assembly at the nose jacking point (TASK 12−00−00−867−801).
NOTE: If the aircraft need to be towed in a configuration such as engines removed, interior
removed, lavatory/galley removed, zero fuel load, etc., refer to the Weight and Balance
Manual (WBM 01−80).
(b) Set the engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS) to the hydraulic synoptic
page.
(c) Make sure that there is a minimum hydraulic pressure of 1500 psi (10342 kPa) for the
inboard or outboard brakes.
(d) If the hydraulic pressure is less then 1500 psi (10342 kPa), do the steps that follow:
1 Pressurize hydraulic system No. 2 until you have a minimum of 1500 psi (10342
kPa) in the system (TASK 12−00−06−862−801).
2 Pressurize hydraulic system No. 3 until you have a minimum of 1500 psi (10342
kPa) in the system (TASK 12−00−06−862−803).
(f) Tell the towing supervisor that the parking brake is set.
(3) Install the towbar (1) on the nose landing gear (NLG). Engage the axle engagement pins (2)
on the towing head with the holes in the ends of the ends of the NLG axle.
CAUTION: IF YOU MUST TOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE NLG SHOCK STRUT
INCORRECTLY SERVICED, KEEP THE TORQUE LINKS CONNECTED,
AND DO NOT TURN THE NOSEWHEEL MORE THAN 70 DEGREES. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Pull out the two quick−disconnect handles (3) at the same time to disconnect the
upper torque link (4) from the lower torque link (5).
(7) Tell the brake operator that the wheel chocks are removed.
(c) Tell the towing supervisor that the parking brake is released.
CAUTION: BEFORE MOVING THE AIRCRAFT, BE SURE THAT THE FLAG "ALIGNING"
ON THE INTEGRATED STANDBY INSTRUMENT (ISI) IS NOT SHOWN. IF
YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, THERE IS A RISK OF
DISPATCHING THE AIRCRAFT WITH A MISALIGNED ISI.
(9) Tow the aircraft forward at a speed of not more than 15 mph (24 km/h).
NOTE: Control the towing speed with the towing vehicle speed−indicator only.
NOTE: Turn angle limits must not be more than 90 degrees right and left from the center.
NOTE: Towing on any surface irregularity exceeding 1 in. (2.54 cm) is prohibited.
(10) If the aircraft is turned before it is parked, move it forward or rearward in a straight line for a
short distance.
NOTE: Movement of the aircraft in a straight line removes twisting forces from the
landing gear before you stop the aircraft.
(11) When the aircraft is in the correct position, stop the aircraft with the towing vehicle.
(b) Tell the towing supervisor that the parking brake is set.
(d) Press the CAGE button to align Primary Flight Display (PFD) with the ISI.

1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows is for the push back of an aircraft with the steering
torque links disconnected. The aircraft shall be towed only from the nose landing gear (NLG)
provision points. Towing provision points are located at both ends of the NLG axle. This
procedure is used to move the aircraft away from the terminal gate before a flight, with the flight
crew members on board. This is also used to push an aircraft back with the ground towing crew
only. The procedure for the ground towing crew is given. When the flight crew is on board steps
that made in the flight compartment can be ignored.
NOTE: It is preferable to keep the torque links connected during push back maneuvers. If
torque links are nevertheless disconnected in order to maneuver the aircraft where
steering angles above +/− 70° are required, then, to eliminate any possibility of an
in−flight disconnect, personnel must make sure that both quick−disconnect pins are
fully engaged when reconnecting the torque links.

1. General
A. The procedure that follows is for the towing of the aircraft with a towbarless vehicle. The
approved vehicle for this procedure is the TLD towbarless towing TPX−100E. These vehicles
have a standard motor limiting and brake pressure limiting devices to avoid damage to the NLG
and the aircraft structure. This is used to move the aircraft away from the terminal gate before a
flight, with the flight crew members on board. This procedure is also used to push an aircraft back
with the ground towing crew only. The procedure for the ground towing crew is given. When the
flight crew is on board steps given for the flight compartment can be ignored.
NOTE: Turn angle limits must not be more than 70 degrees right and left from the center.
Markings (visible in all lighting conditions) could be affixed to the nose gear strut at +/−
70 degrees from the center line. The towbarless vehicle operator must be able to
clearly see at all times when the nose gear turn limits are being approached or if at any
time the aircraft nosewheel assembly position differs from the cradle position.
NOTE: It is preferable to keep the torque links connected during push back maneuvers. If
torque links are nevertheless disconnected in order to maneuver the aircraft where
steering angles above +/− 70 degrees are required, then refer to the push back of the
aircraft with the towbarless vehicle with torque links disconnected
(TASK 09−10−00−584−812).
Any of the towing equipment specified by MHIRJ and the corresponding procedures can be used
at the customer’s discretion. Operators also have the option to risk assess their own towing
operations and to perform them according to their internal policies and procedures.
The following tug cradle and rear−gate configuration shall be used. Use of any other
cradle/rear−gate configurations is prohibited:

chrome section is seen on the shock absorbers before you push back the aircraft.
(7) Make sure that the NLG shock absorber exposed chrome dimensions is within the minimum
and maximum limit. Refer to the Table 201. If necessary, do the extension check of the NLG
shock strut (TASK 12−12−32−820−802).
E. Before the aircraft is pushed back, make sure that you have the towing crew that follows:
NOTE: The towing supervisor is in control of the towing operation and must have visual and
radio communication with all the members of the towing and flight crews at all times.
Light wands can be used to give signals in low visibility. The towbarless vehicle
operator must obey all the aural and visual warnings set by the towbarless vehicle.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WHEN YOU USE A TOWBARLESS VEHICLE TO PUSH BACK THE AIRCRAFT
WITH THE TORQUE LINKS CONNECTED, OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT
FOLLOW:
(e) If necessary, energize the auxiliary AC generation system for towing long distance
(TASK 24−22−00−861−801).
(g) Tell the towbarless vehicle operator that the parking brake is set.
CAUTION: IF YOU MUST TOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE NLG SHOCK STRUT
INCORRECTLY SERVICED, KEEP THE TORQUE LINKS CONNECTED, AND
DO NOT TURN THE NOSEWHEEL MORE THAN 70 DEGREES. IF YOU DO
NOT OBEY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Make sure that the NLG shock strut is correctly charged.
(4) Move the towbarless vehicle into position to connect the NLG.

(c) Tell the towbarless vehicle operator that the parking brake is released.
(9) Slowly push back the aircraft forward at a speed of not more than 3 mph (5 km/h).
NOTE: Push back of the Aircraft on any surface irregularity exceeding 1 in. (2.54 cm),
including hangar entrance is prohibited.
NOTE: Turn angle must not be more than 90 degrees right and left from the center.
NOTE: The torque applied on the NLG exceeds the limits, the towbarless vehicle
provides different audible and visual alerts. When steering, if the operator
reaches 50% of the safe limit, the amber light comes on with the aural buzzer.
This alerting system allows the operator to continue the towing operation, and
leaves enough time to correct the turning angle before the safety limit is reached.
In case the safe limit is reached, a red light comes on with audible buzzer to alert
the operator. The tug then automatically shifts to the neutral position and powers
down.
(10) While push back, if the aircraft NLG wheels move upward direction from the gate/back plate
do the steps that follow:
(b) NLG tires, NLG wheels, NLG piston chrome, NLG wheel axle, and the lower torque
links must be inspected by a qualified aircraft mechanic or technician, paying
particular attention to the wheel bead and tire chine.
(11) Do not use the aircraft brakes when the aircraft is towed unless an emergency condition
occurs.
NOTE: If the aircraft brakes are used, the aircraft towing must be immediately stopped.
Permanent damage may have been caused to the NLG Shock strut assembly,
NLG Drag Brace assembly, and the Aircraft Structure. If this condition occurs, the
NLG shock strut and the NLG Drag Brace aircraft attachment points must me
inspected for damage or deformation. Contact the CRJ Customer Response
Center for disposition on the NLG Shock Strut assembly and the NLG Drag
Brace assembly, with the informations that follow:

3. Job Set−Up
A. Make sure that the aircraft is in the standard configuration for maintenance
(b) Make sure that the landing gear selector−handle is in DOWN position.
(6) Make sure that the MLG shock absorbers are not fully compressed and that sufficient
chrome section is seen on the shock absorbers before you push back the aircraft.
(7) Make sure that the NLG shock absorber exposed chrome dimensions is within the minimum
and maximum limit. Refer to the Table 201. If necessary, do the extension check of the NLG
shock strut (TASK 12−12−32−820−802).
E. Before the aircraft will be pushed back, make sure that you have the towing crew that follows:
NOTE: The towing supervisor is in control of the towing operation and must have visual and
radio communication with all the members of the towing and flight crews at all times.
Light wands can be used to give signals in low visibility. The towbarless vehicle
operator must obey all the aural and visual warnings set by the towbarless vehicle.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WHEN YOU TOW THE AIRCRAFT WITH A TOWBARLESS VEHICLE, OBEY THE
PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW:
(1) Disconnect the torque links of the nose landing gear as follows:
(a) Pull out the two quick−disconnect handles (3) at the same time to disconnect the
upper torque link (4) from the lower torque link (5).
(e) If necessary, energize the auxiliary AC generation system for towing long distance
(TASK 24−22−00−861−801).
(g) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is set.
(4) Make sure that the NLG shock strut is correctly charged.
(6) Visually inspect the strut strap for possible damage and clean it if necessary.
NOTE: Teflon sheet worn through or abrasive materials can damage the piston chrome
surface.
NOTE: Change the strut strap for a new LEKTRO standard part at any time the strut
strap shows evidence of unwanted wear.
NOTE: Change the winch strap and strut strap for a new LEKTRO standard parts at the
250 hours of tug use or 26 weeks, whichever comes first.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PUT THE WINCH STRAP AROUND THE OUTER
CYLINDER WHEN YOU TOW OR PUSH THE AIRCRAFT WITH A
TOWBARLESS VEHICLE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NOSE
LANDING GEAR.
(7) Connect the strut strap around the chrome piston of the NLG strut. Should part of the strut
strap cover the piston, confirm the nosewheel loading and/or shock strut servicing.
(8) Make sure that the strut strap is correctly secured around the NLG piston.
(c) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is released.
(10) Winch the aircraft on the cradle until tire activates the winch cut−off and is firmly held
against the stop.
(11) Make sure that the final winch/strut strap tension is tight, but allows about 0.50 in. (1.27 cm)
of strut strap manual squeeze.
(12) Make sure that the protrusions on the nose wheel stay clear from the cradle and the tug
body.
(13) Lift the cradle sufficiently to clear the pavement surface approximately 3.00 in. (7.62 cm).
NOTE: Push back on any surface irregularity exceeding 1 in. (2.54 cm), including hangar
entrance, is prohibited.
(14) Slowly push back the aircraft at a speed of not more than 3 mph (5 km/h).
NOTE: Turn angle must not be more than 90 degrees right and left from the center.
NOTE: If during an emergency situation, the aircraft brakes are used to stop the aircraft
while moving the towbarless vehicle in the aft direction, this may cause the NLG
wheels to move off the cradle and then to come down. If this condition occurs,
push back of the aircraft must be immediately stopped. The NLG tires, NLG
wheels, the NLG piston chrome, the NLG wheel axle, and the lower torque link
must be inspected by a qualified aircraft mechanic/technician. Pay particular
attention to the tire chine and the wheel bead.
NOTE: The push back operation shall be halted immediately if at any time the aircraft
nosewheel assembly position differs from the cradle position. This may indicate
that the steering system is not in the by−pass mode or that an oversteer has
occurred causing steering actuators to mechanically bottom, and that a torque
force may be transmitted to the steering system. If this condition occurs, the
aircraft push back must be immediately stopped and the NLG tires and NLG
wheels must be inspected by a qualified aircraft mechanic/technician. pay
particular attention to the tire chine and the wheel bead.
(15) If the aircraft is turned before it is parked, move it forward or rearward in a straight line for a
short distance.
(16) When the aircraft is in the correct position, stop the aircraft with the towbarless vehicle.
(18) If the nosewheel assembly has move more than 45 degrees from the normal cradle position
or if the nosewheel assembly rim show signs of damage after a tire/cradle movement, do as
follows:
NOTE: Make sure that the detailed inspection is done by the NLG manufacturer.
(b) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is set.
(d) Press the CAGE button to align Primary Flight Display (PFD) with the ISI.
(22) Slowly move away the towbarless vehicle from the aircraft.
(b) Align the pivot of the upper torque link with the pivot of the lower torque link.
(c) Release the quick−disconnect handles. Make sure that the two quick−disconnect pins
engage fully with the pivot of the lower torque link.
(24) If required, remove the nose landing gear (NLG) lockpin (TASK 10−11−00−000−801).
NOTE: There are situations when the NLG lockpin is not removed. For example, when
the aircraft has been moved and parked into a hangar or an engine is to be
ground tested.
(25) If required, remove the main landing gear lockpins (TASK 10−11−00−000−802).
NOTE: There are situations when the MLG lockpins are not removed. For example,
when the aircraft has been moved and parked into a hangar or an engine is to be
ground tested.
(26) If required, remove the air driven generator (ADG) ground safety pin
(TASK 10−11−00−000−803).

VIEW LOOKING FORWARD
1. General
A. The procedure that follows is for the push back of the aircraft with the towbarless vehicle with
torque links connected. The approved vehicles for this procedure are the LEKTRO model
AP8750BAL700 or AP8850SDAAL100. These vehicles have a winch limiting, brake limiting and
motor limiting devices to avoid damage to the NLG. These vehicles also have a winch strap of 1
in. (2.54 cm) or 2 in. (5.08 cm) wide. These are used to move the aircraft away from the terminal
gate before a flight, with the flight crew members on board. This procedure is also used to push
an aircraft back with the ground towing crew only. The procedure for the ground towing crew is
given. When the flight crew is on board steps given for the flight compartment can be ignored.
NOTE: Turn angle limits must not be more than 70 degrees right and left from the center.
Markings (visible in all lighting conditions) could be affixed to the nose gear strut at +/−
70 degrees from the center line. The tug operator must be able to clearly see at all
times when the nose gear turn limits are being approached or if at any time the aircraft
nosewheel assembly position differs from the cradle position.
(TASK 09−10−00−584−806).
Any of the towing equipment specified by MHIRJ and the corresponding procedures can be used
at the customer’s discretion. Operators also have the option to risk assess their own towing
operations and to perform them according to their internal policies and procedures.
One of the following tug cradle and rear−gate configurations shall be used. Use of any other
cradle/rear−gate configurations is prohibited:

(2) Pressurize hydraulic system No. 3 until you have a minimum of 1500 psi (10342 kPa) in the
system (TASK 12−00−06−862−803).
(a) Make sure that the N/W STRG switch is set to OFF.
(b) Make sure that the landing gear selector−handle is in the DOWN position.
(2) Make sure that the passenger door is closed during push back. If the passenger door has to
stay open, install the door support cable.
(3) Make sure that all ground equipment is removed from areas adjacent to the aircraft.
(4) Make sure that all external services are disconnected from the aircraft.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WHEN YOU USE A TOWBARLESS VEHICLE TO PUSH BACK THE AIRCRAFT
WITH THE TORQUE LINKS CONNECTED, OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT
FOLLOW:
NOTE: Make sure that there is a crew member in the flight compartment to operate the parking
brake in an emergency. Also, make sure a crew member stays at each wing tip and at the
tail when you move the aircraft in an area with minimum space.
(b) If necessary, energize the auxiliary AC generation system for towing long distance
(TASK 24−22−00−861−801).
(d) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is set.
(3) Make sure that the NLG shock strut is correctly charged.
(5) Visually inspect the strut strap for possible damage and clean it if necessary.
(6) Connect the strut strap around the chrome piston of the NLG strut. Should part of the strut
strap cover the piston, confirm the nosewheel loading and/or shock strut servicing.
(7) Make sure that the strut strap is correctly secured around the NLG piston.
(c) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is released.
(9) Winch the aircraft on the cradle until tire activates the winch cut−off and is firmly held
against the stop.
(10) Make sure that the final winch/strut strap tension is tight, but allows about 0.50 in. (1.27 cm)
of strut strap manual squeeze.
(11) Make sure that the protrusions on the nose wheel stay clear from the cradle and the tug
body.
(12) Lift the cradle sufficiently to clear the pavement surface approximately 3.00 in. (7.62 cm).
NOTE: Push back on any surface irregularity exceeding 1 in. (2.54 cm), including hangar
entrance, is prohibited.
(13) Slowly push back the aircraft at a speed of not more than 3 mph (5 km/h).
NOTE: Turn angle limits must not be more than 70 degrees right and left from the center.
The tug operator must be able to clearly see when the nose gear turn limits are
being approached. Markings could be affixed to the nose gear strut at +/− 70
degrees from the center line. If this angle is exceeded, the NLG tires and the
NLG wheels must be inspected by a qualified aircraft mechanic/technician. Pay
particular attention to the tire chine and the wheel bead.
(14) If the aircraft is turned before it is parked, move it forward or rearward in a straight line for a
short distance.
(15) When the aircraft is in the correct position, stop the aircraft with the towbarless vehicle.
(17) If the nosewheel assembly has moved more than 45 degrees from the normal cradle
position or if the nosewheel assembly rim show signs of damage after a tire/cradle
movement, do as follows:
NOTE: Make sure that the detailed inspection is done by the NLG manufacturer.
(b) Tell the tow vehicle operator that the parking brake is set.
(d) Press the CAGE button to align Primary Flight Display (PFD) with the ISI.
(21) Slowly move away the towbarless vehicle from the aircraft.
(22) If required, remove the nose landing gear (NLG) lockpin (TASK 10−11−00−000−801).
NOTE: There are situations when the NLG lockpin is not removed. For example, when
the aircraft has been moved and parked into a hangar or an engine is to be
ground tested.
(23) If required, remove the main landing gear lockpins (TASK 10−11−00−000−802).
NOTE: There are situations when the MLG lockpins are not removed. For example,
when the aircraft has been moved and parked into a hangar or an engine is to be
ground tested.
(24) If required, remove the air driven generator (ADG) ground safety pin
(TASK 10−11−00−000−803).
NOTE: There are situations when the ADG ground safety pin is not removed. For
example, when the aircraft has been moved and parked into a hangar or an

calculations.
1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows is to move the aircraft on the ground with engine thrust,
nose wheel steering, and brakes. It is recommended to use two engines to taxi the aircraft. But it
is permitted to taxi the aircraft with one operational engine with the hydraulic systems No. 2 and
No. 3 ON (Electrical pumps).
REFERENCE DESIGNATION
B. Reference Information
3. Job Set−Up
A. Make sure that the aircraft is in the standard configuration for maintenance
(TASK 12−00−00−867−801).
WARNING: WHEN THERE ARE PERSONS OR OBJECTS NEAR THE AIRCRAFT, DO NOT
START AN ENGINE OR MOVE THE AIRCRAFT. HIGH PRESSURE AND HOT
TEMPERATURES OCCUR DURING ENGINE OPERATION AND CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: WHEN YOU TAXI THE AIRCRAFT, OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW:
B. Obey the precautions that follow before the aircraft is moved with engine power:
(2) Make sure that all the wheel chocks are installed.
(3) Make sure that the aircraft is clear of all persons and/or objects in the adjacent areas and
along the taxi path.
(4) Make sure that there are no persons and/or objects in the aircraft engine intake and exhaust
danger areas.
(5) Make sure that the ground power unit and the grounding wire are disconnected from the
aircraft.
(6) Make sure that all the external doors are closed.
(7) Make sure that there is a ground marshaller in the parking area.
(8) Make sure that the headset of the marshaller is connected to the service interphone.
4. Procedure
(2) Make sure that the pressure of the brake accumulators is 600 ± 50 PSI.
(3) Tune the radio tuning unit (RTU) to the local ground control frequency.
(4) Get the permission from the ground control to start the engines.
(6) If you taxi the aircraft with two engines, start the left and right engines
(TASK 71−00−00−866−806).
(7) If you taxi the aircraft with one engine, start the left or right engine
(TASK 71−00−00−866−806).
(8) Make sure that the auxiliary power unit (APU) is ON (TASK 49−10−00−866−801).
(9) Pressurize the hydraulic systems No. 2 and No. 3 with the aircraft pumps as follows:
CONTROLS POSITION
LANDING GEARS Extended
SPOILERS Retracted
AILERON Neutral
RUDDER Neutral
ELEVATOR Neutral
THRUST REVERSER Retracted
(f) Make sure that the circuit breakers that follow are closed:
(g) Push the HYD switch on the engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS)
control panel to get ther hydraulic synoptic page on the display.
(h) On the HYDRAULIC control panel, set the switches 2, 3A and 3B to ON.
(i) Monitor the hydraulic pressure on the hydraulic synoptic page of the EICAS and make
sure of that follows:
(a) On the EICAS primary page, make sure that the amber STEERING INOP caution
message is not shown.
NOTE: Nose wheel must be in center position and torque links connected.
(11) On the EXTERNAL LTS panel, make sure the NAV light switch is set to ON.
(12) On the LDG GEAR control panel, make sure the anti−skid switch is set to OFF.
(13) On the SPOILERS/THRUST REVERSER panel, make sure the LH and RH THRUST
REVERSER switches are set to ARM.
NOTE: Do not use the thrust reversers to control the speed of the aircraft during taxi.
(16) Make sure that the headset of the marshaller is disconnected from the interphone.
(17) Give a signal to the marshaller that you are ready to taxi. Get a clearance from the
marshaller that the taxi path is clear.
(19) Apply sufficient engine power as necessary to move the aircraft, then decrease the thrust to
IDLE. Use more than IDLE thrust only when it is necessary to keep the taxiing speed.
NOTE: Idle thrust is sufficient to keep the taxiing speed in most conditions.
(20) During the taxiing procedure, obey the precautions that follow:
(a) Keep your toes at the bottom of the rudder pedals until the brakes are necessary. You
can accidentally apply pressure to the brakes and cause the brakes to become too hot.
(b) Use the brakes only if the aircraft goes too fast, to decrease speed for turns, or to stop
the aircraft. Do not use the brakes continuously to hold the same speed.
NOTE: If the nose wheel steering is unserviceable, it is possible to taxi the aircraft
by rudder pedals and brakes to control movement.
(e) Always use the largest turn radius possible when the aircraft is turned.
(h) Do not use brakes to help tighten a turn made with the nose wheel steering.
(i) Do not park the aircraft while it is in a turn. Move the aircraft approximately 3 feet in
forward direction, to remove twisting stresses from the landing gear, before it is
parked.
(k) Do not use the brakes if the aircraft moves rearward. Stop the aircraft with forward
thrust. Use the brakes only when the aircraft is stopped or when the aircraft moves
forward.
5. Close Out
NOTE: Obey all the signals of the marshaller to complete this step. Light wands can be
used to give signals in low visibility.
(3) Tell the ground control that the taxiing operation is completed.
(7) Make sure that the headset of the marshaller is connected to the service interphone.
