Tempo Printing Machine Production Report

INTRODUCTION:

Pad printing is a printing technique that can transfer a two-dimensional image onto a three-
dimensional object. The details of the tempo printing machine in Medical devices are as follows:

Company Name: COMEC

Model: MINI PRINT KP04

Product: Disposable laryngoscope

CHALLENGES DURING THE OPERATION OF THE TEMPO PRINTING MACHINE:

During the tempo printing process performed by a COMEC tempo print machine, some
challenges are discussed below.

MACHINE OPERATION BY ONE OPERATOR:

One operator can operate the machine, but improper item handling occurs. Laryngoscopes cannot
be placed or removed from the fixture single-handedly, nor can items be arranged in the bucket.
Changing the blade size impacts production speed, and the smaller the blade, the more difficult it
is to achieve the objective. Mishandling can result in various issues, such as spatula scratches
and burn marks on the whole product. Because the single operator is completely focused on
production quantity, it is challenging for the operator to check for quality issues during tempo
printing.

CLICHÉ PROBLEM:

Certain products cannot be printed on the COMEC tempo printing machine because clichés are
unavailable. These products include mill 000, MAC 3.5, SEWARD, ROBERTSHAW, and every
PARKER blade. All products with double-sided printing, such as WDB, KAWE, and
EASYBRIGHT, cannot be printed on the COMEC tempo printing machine.

MACHINE BREAKDOWN TIME:

The machine downtime also hinders the achievement of the stated objective. The objective
cannot be met when load shedding is more in the industry. There may also be some machine
maintenance issues that prevent us from achieving maximum output. In addition, at a certain
point during production, the ink becomes hard, necessitating a pause to refresh the ink mixture.
These factors, therefore, prevent the maximum hourly output from being reached.

WORKER PRODUCTIVITY:

Each hour, the worker is not productive. Therefore, in the first half, the operator can produce a
large number of printed items per hour, but in the second half, this may become difficult.
Therefore, this may prevent us from achieving the maximum output per hour but we will manage
this by making 3 groups of different workers to achieve the stated objective.

CONCLUSION:

The objective of the COMEC tempo printing machine is 1300 pieces per hour, which can be
achieved with two operators, as shown in the comparison table. This hourly output is dependent
on the number of machine operators, machine downtime due to load shedding, maintenance, ink
condition, and operator output.
